Not as good as the bottle we had 2 years ago. All of the great lemon peel and minerality and texture and acid are still there - but this is oddly lacking on the mid palate, so you get a nice entry and exit but not a lot of meat in the middle. — 3 months ago

2021. Drove to Omaha to attend an Arnot-Roberts wine class and tasting, and got there early to enjoy some delicious oysters with a bottle of fantastic Chardonnay that wasn’t on the tasting list. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. This bottle of the 2005 Gran Reserva came from a Library Release in 2022 so the cork was perfect. The wine pours a garnet color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart, ripe and some dried, mostly red fruits: Bing cherry, raspberries, plum, tobacco, leather, dill and assorted dried garden herbs, gentle baking spices and dry, dusty earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is in a lovely spot and yet, has a long life ahead. Drink now with some patience and enjoy through 2045. — 4 months ago

Blend of mostly Tempranillo with about equal amounts of Garnacho, Graciano and Manzuelo, deep Ruby with a graceful bouquet of berry fruits, cigar box spice with fresh earthy tones, a traditional Rioja, still reticent. On the silky smooth palate, elegant with layers of flavors of ripe blackberry and cherry, tobacco, smoky cedar, dark fruit, vanilla spice, very well balanced with fine soft tannins and a clean structure ending with a nice long chalky earthy character.
