Not the best vintage but this was very impressive. Decadent but refined and elegant. Rounded off the red wines beautifully — 13 days ago

@Andrew McIntyre, hey, Palmer is “Palmer”, no apologies are EVER necessary when you’re lucky enough to drink some. I only have some bottles of 1983 left in my cellar (a nearly perfect wine), but was blessed enough to have some NYC friends when I was “learning” back in the 1980s who graciously shared some 1961/66/70 Palmer with me!!

@Doug Powers Kind of have the feeling that there are no bad Palmer. Was really surprised how good this was!

Really made wine with fantastic QPR. Easy to pair, crowd pleaser and basically just delicious. Paired with steak and roast potatoes 😋 — 6 days ago

@Andrew McIntyre, first vintage of Bordeaux I purchased in any quantity were the 1982s — better stuff on futures, and then landed stuff (mostly from the DC shop near the Key Bridge?) — Poujeaux was one of this well less than $100 PER CASE!! (Hell, I bought 1982 Grand Puy Lacoste for $125/case, Cos for $144/6 magnums, etc.) — different wine market in the mid-1980s. With that said, loved Poujeaux, Coufran, La Dominique, Sociando Mallet, GPL, etc. from that 1982 vintage, such bargains and really incredible drinkers!!

@Anthony De Blasi good question. Firstly I think the wines from Fontodi are young or old always excellent. We had a 2010 Flaccionello a few months ago that felt like it could have been just a few years old so I think you still have time. Always difficult to know when to pull that cork but regardless you will enjoy it!
