Wow! Almost perfect. Maybe should have waited another year, but oh so good. Rich, complex, smooth. — a month ago
1992 - aged tremendously well, still complex and rich. Really nice! — 2 months ago
Dark rubi robe with a slight brick color on the rim. One would never say its over 40 years old. Cedar notes intertwined with dark cherries, tobacco, pencil lead, and secondary aromas. Dense, rich, but balanced and fresh, its a bold Pauillac ready to drink but absolutely no rush. Great bottle and one of the best 82s we tasted. — 19 days ago
Tart, dried blackberry fruit leather, earthy breeze smell on the nose (I don’t know what that means either, but that’s the first words to come to mind). Blackberry bramble, silk, and pepper. Some iron, but it’s soften over the years. This is a Belgian Sheepdog wine. Dark, bold, elegant, eager to please any Syrah fan. I want to go for a long hike through the woods, picking wild blackberries with this dog. Then we go home and share leg of lamb, rub the dogs silky ears, and drink this (just me. Don’t give alcohol to dogs). — 18 days ago
Rich scent of coffee on the nose. Vanilla, black cherry, smoke, and a touch of coffee on the palette. Dark and big but the spice and oak aren’t too harsh. — a month ago
Deep ruby in color. A nose of rich cassis and tobacco, and a mouth that matches with jammy dark fruits (cassis, boysenberry) and toasty oak. Medium tannins and acidity. A heavy mouthfeel gives the wine an almost sticky quality, with the fruit flavors lasting through a generous finish. — 2 months ago
Sipping Fine Wine
‘Las Alturas' Spanish for 'the heights', a fitting name, this vineyard located on one of the highest grape-growing benches in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. 4th gen Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner from family with farming & winemaking roots in Napa since 1906. Met Joe several times. Deep Ruby (darkest Pinot I have come across). Nice berry and floral spice aromas. Rich cherry/plum flavors with oak, spice and vanilla. Long finish, bold ending with sweet oak notes. Nice! A Fav! — 15 days ago
