Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a delicious one from Red Mountain.

Purple in color with a wide reddish rim.

Elegant nose with blue and black fruits, light cedar, light earth and chocolates notes.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, dried figs, light cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, chocolates and earth.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain. Elegant and rich. Complex, spicy and entertaining.

This 8 year old Cabernet is drinking close to its peak. Fruit forward and easy drinking right out of the bottle, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years. Has good potential to become a 94 point wine.

Showing a great mouthfeel with nice balance and elegance. Interesting enough to drink by itself and talk about.

Wine Enthusiasts 91 points. Wine Advocate 93 points.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food like a nice piece of steak.

A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. Aged in all new French oak barrels for 22 months.

Frias Family Vineyard

SMD Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a beautiful one from Napa Valley.

Inky in color with a short reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black currants, plums, blackberries, raisins, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, cola, aluminum, mediterranean spices and peppercorn.

Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward with blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, licorice, cedar, chocolates, light herbs, peppercorn and light black tea.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon from Spring Mountain District in Napa Valley. Elegant and smooth. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy and entertaining.

Needed 90 minutes in the decanter to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle too.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already very approachable.

Delicious by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged for 23 months in French oak barrels. Unfiltered and unfined.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Estate Vineyards Les Pavots Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Deep purple in color with a short purple rim. Not showing age at all.

Beautiful nose of black currants, blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, black tea, light eucalyptus and licorice.

Full-bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward with blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, light earth, herbs, chocolates, black tea, black pepper, spices and cola.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Knights Valley in Sonoma County. Rich and elegant. Fruit forward and very complex.

Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Feels like a Napa Cabernet based Bordeaux blend.

Good right out of the bottle, and much better after 45 minutes in the decanter. Really gorgeous once it opens up.

Peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

Wine Advocate 95 points. Wine Spectator 93 points.

Great by itself as a sipping wine or with food, like a big piece of steak.

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 13% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.

Beckstoffer Vineyard George III Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Inky in color with a short reddish rim.

Pretty nose of cedar and black fruits, with tobacco and chocolate notes.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, light earth, chocolates, spices, peppercorn, coffee, cola and licorice.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This 7 year old Napa Cabernet is already drinking beautifully. Smooth and elegant. Spicy and entertaining. Rich, complex and extracted.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Has great potential to become a 96 point wine.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is nicely balanced, soft and engaging.

Wine Enthusiasts 94 points.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will also pair nicely with barbecue meats.

Grapes were aged in (85% new) French Oak barrels for 23 months.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, spices, oak, licorice, dark chocolates, coffee, light vegetables, herbs and black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Paulliac. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Complex, elegant and fruit forward.

This 9 year old is peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

Easy drinking, and good by itself or with food.

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. Aged in (75% new) French oak barrels for 17 months.

This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Rich and fruit forward. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Elegant, smooth and spicy.

This 8 year old Cabernet Sauvignon is starting to drink nicely now, but still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolves.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Good by itself or with food.

A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot. Aged in (80% new) French Oak barrels for 22 months. 900 cases produced.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black fruits, cedar, spices, chocolates, coffee, licorice, cola, light pencil lead, tobacco leaf, herbs and black pepper.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and very fruity with black currants, blackberries, plums, cola, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, chocolates, vanilla, coffee and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 13 year old Napa Cabernet is drinking beautifully now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel. Elegant, rich and in your face kind of wine.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 2 hours of airtime.

A gorgeous Cabernet, but I prefer the 2010 vintage.

Wine Spectator 91 points. Wine Enthusiasts 94 points.

Extracted, and good by itself as a sipping wine.

A blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

15.2% alcohol by volume.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Strong nose of black fruits with light cedar, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, cola, herbs and spices.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, black plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, light earth, coffee, herbs, dark chocolates, black tea, peppercorn and cola.

Long finish with no tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious 10-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon from Walla Walla Valley. Rich and fruit forward. Complex and nicely balanced.

Good right out of the bottle and didn't evolve much with air, even after after 2 hours.

Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.

I had this vintage 7 years ago, and it is so much better now. Probably a little past its peak, but delicious nonetheless. A little flat at this point, but very tasty. I love these Cabernet based Bordeaux blends.

Easy drinking and a great sipping wine.

A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged in (28% new) French Oak barrels.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cedar, cooked plums, tobacco leaf, light earth, herbs, spices and chocolates.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Rich and extracted. Fruit forward and elegant. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle, but really needs 3 hours to open up properly, so be patient.

Still very young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already delicious. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Has good potential to become a 98+ point wine.

A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

14.7% alcohol by volume.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with black currants, plums, tobacco, blackberries, chocolates, herbs, spices, earth, light vanilla, cedar, licorice, light cola and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This is a delicious, yet still young, Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Already drinking beautifully, but feels very young and needs 10 to 20 years in the bottle to mature property.

This 10 year old Single Vineyard Cabernet is nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Elegant and fruit forward.

Needed 4 hours in the decanter to open up properly.

Wine Advocate 99 points. Wine Spectator 96 points.

A good quality wine. Complex, powerful and interesting. Always nice to drink these kind of iconic wines. Delicious stuff.

A wonderful sipping wine that also paired nicely with my steak.
