Rough - in a good way. Very dry, short finish. A pepper, clove, dark chocolate and mature fruit. — 12 days ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed out of red Solo cups over the course of a few hours. The 2007 “Cuvée La Côte Ronde” pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core. On the nose, the wine is vinous with powerful notes of ripe and slightly dried black and red fruit: blackberries, Marionberries, black cherry, a mix of red and purple flowers, a touch of rotundone, some new leather, a touch of Kalamata olive, stony earth and a mix of cool spices and fine baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin (integrated) and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, baby. Personally, I have struggled to appreciate the modern profile of Paul Autard (100% new French Oak). However, this is an intensely sensual wine. I cannot deny it. Really good stuff.
