This was firing on all cylinders tonight. Caught at a point v.s. my palate preferences. This still had fruit power but also polished, pleasantly drying tannins. It had a lot of spices braced by just the right amount of sweetness. Truly a joy to drink tonight. — a month ago
3.2. A nice Rioja, but a little dull. Perhaps 2018 was not such a good year. On sale for ‘$18.99. — a month ago
One of my all-time favs. — 2 months ago
Allora….schon lange auf der watch-list und nun endlich im glas. Der wein schlägt eine fast nie dagewesene brücke zwischen kraft und eleganz. Wirkt NIE alkoholisch, immer feingliedrig, animalisch, würzig, sogar seidig. Grazie Rocco!! — 5 days ago
A wine from Jorge Ordóñez and his winemaking team. Pale lemon color with crisp stone fruit and citrus aromas. On the palate flavors of apple, pear and melon with lemon citrus, consistent offering from La Cana. Medium finish ending with fruit, spice and mineral tang. Nice value. — a month ago
90% Tempranillo; 10% Graciano. Red fruited perfume, earthy with medium plus intensity. Palate at 21 years is developed, balanced and soft with fully integrated tannins. Medium weight with declining strength to its inner core. Not near as good on the 2nd night. This aged overnight and finishes a little sour. I was going to give it 94 points but will now give 90 points. — a month ago
Soft and fruity with balanced tannins. Maybe softer than preferred to pair with pizza, but quite good anyway on its own — a month ago
Tasting notes during visit to the winery where absolutely everything is done in-house by hand; preserving centuries old winemaking traditions. Bosconia is a delicate wine highlighted by persistent tones of red berries and bright acidity with integrated tannins closing with medium but lingering finish.
No stainless steel here. The juice is fermented in old large wooden “tinas,” then transferred to American oak barrels (made in house to lighter toast specifications), underground in their +100 year old cellars for at least a year. After that it is bottled and stored in the same underground cellars and finally released about ten years later. Learning about their curated winemaking process was inspiring. — 2 months ago
I have always loved old world and some of the old vine Grenache examples coming from Australia recently but Priorat always remains a favourite. Red and blue fruits on nose and palate. The medium bodied palate shows spice, blueberry and raspberry (sweet). A robust yet flavoursome wine. Earthy, mineral, sweet and savoury. Finishes dry with persistence of flavour - very satisfying. We had a memorable tasting there in June 2022 with the family. — 2 months ago
full bodied, lots of flavor — 17 days ago
A unique wine. Vibrant golden hue, reductive aroma combined with a variety of ripe orchard fruits, saline breeze, pineapple, wet stone. Palate with high acidity, a lingering tannic grip, stony minerality, apple, pear, fresh almonds. I drink the current vintage (which happens to be 2012 this year) with my wife once per year, and have for the last 5 years. Nostalgic. — a month ago
Pale lemon color with stone, citrus and tropical fruit aromas and herb floral scents. On the palate flavors of apples, grapefruit and pear with lemon citrus and chalky notes. Good balance with pleasant lively acidity, medium+ finish ending crisp with mineral, citrus, floral and wet stone nuances. — 2 months ago
