Always love the wines from LdH and this is no exception. Very nice at just over 20 years of age. Definitely secondary, no need to wait longer. Opened for a few hours before service but no decant. 2013 vintage.
Grown on terraced mountain slopes between 350 and 500 meters.
The soil is Llicorella. Reddish black slate with mica quartz.
49 % Garnacha, 25 % Carinena, 16 % Syrah and 10 % Cabernet Sauvignon.
Dark cherries, blackberries, beautiful black violets, graphite earthiness, black olives and fennel.
Nicely rounded tannins with a layered and long finish.

Finally talked this dude into drinking.
I don't know, maybe I'm getting old but aged Riojas are starting to taste/feel weighty to me. It's very good. Muddled fruits, resolved tannins, nice and round, leather notes. But somewhat boring. Probably my mood.
