A fantastic bottling that is rich, bright and delicate at the same time. Fully integrated with lovely smoky and mineral notes. Long elegant finish.
The winery note states full development by 2022. Agreed but should have staying power for another 4-5 years. — 3 months ago

Ruby in color with a wide brick rim.
Sweet nose and medium in body with high acidity.
Sweet on the palate with a nice mouth feel.
Showing red and black fruits, tobacco leaf, light earth, brown sugar, Indian spices, peppercorn, herbs and alcohol.
Short finish with Tangy cranberries and honey.
This is not my It is never my favorite port style, but it's very drinkable as a dessert wine.
I enjoyed the nose more than the palate.

Amazing Port to celebrate my brothers 50th birthday!!!! — 5 years ago
Privileged to sample the 2016 Monte Bello at the winery as part of their Library offerings. The bottle is $375 at the winery. Tight and tannic after 8 years (and half an hour of decanting) but promising much more. Josh at the winery concedes that it’s in a dumb phase but should reach its peak in 20-30 years. I could analyze and pick apart this one for hours. — 3 months ago
4th wine of BYOB blind. Very light with a slight effervescence, leading us to call this as a natty pinot. Was surprised it was such a classic. Have had Mt Eden Pinot before and this was not in the same neighborhood of depth/forest floor. Alas, not my favorite vintage — 4 months ago

Paired well with a lamb, eggplant purée, fava beans, piquolo pepper. Would also pair with a medium rare magret duck or other game. — 9 years ago

White Burgundy! 2021 vintage, tasted at the winery. — 3 months ago
Imagine a great Cote Rotie, Cornas, and a Cal Syrah step into a bar. The atmosphere is all French but the ‘Mercian makes it interesting and overblown with too much density. It was spectacular, but if it were a bit more reserved, and didn’t stain my Riedel, it would have been on another level. — 4 months ago
1/24 High marks. Wonderful earthy notes. In the sweet side. it is better oxidizing in the bottle so some of the sugarless subsides. Plenty of caramel, toffee, ripe fruit. Outside of the sweetness which can be cloying a solid 90. — 5 months ago
Delicious and fine. Nice balance and rich. — 5 months ago
@Sipping Fine Wine you can be a really douche. Maybe some people are into the 15 dollar wines. But you don't have to be a jerk about it. I'd rather pay 10 to 15 dollars for a very drinkable wine than pay 40 for a crap wine that has a nice label. — 8 months ago

1985 vintage. Nice fill. Excellent cork. Decanted and tasted after 15 minutes thru the 1.5 hours it lasted. Very little sed. Plenty of color. Light-medium body but got bigger and more developed after 45 mins or so. Tobacco, earth and cedar in spades along with dark fruit. This has plenty of life remaining at a high level. Wonderful stuff. 3.24.24. — 2 months ago
