On the palate this is intense and richly fruited but remains really well balanced , with great freshness . Spicy creme de cassis , blackberry , grafite , really quite classic. Reminds me of St Julien with the radiance , sunshine and brightness of Napa. Fresh acidity , ripe but grippy tannins , excellent length and balance , grafite , cassis tinged finish. The 2020 edition of this wine is excellent. Still on the young side, it’s got a classic Zin nose of pristine brambly blackberry, a lifted note that’s almost but not quite eucalyptus adjacent, and some loamy gravel. Gorgeous balance in the mouth, rich and intense but with an elegant texture, tannins abundant but buried under the concentrated flavors. Flavors balance fruit and savory notes. Long. Showing its age on the nose and full in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, black currants, coffee, oak, cloves, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, black tea and black pepper.

Nice length on the finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain in Washington State. Elegant and earthy with chocolate notes.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet is complex with a soft mouthfeel, and feels much older than its age.

Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in all new French oak barrels for 22 months. A small production of only 5 barrels.

14% alcohol by volume.

On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and black cherry with toasty oak, cacao and espresso. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, oak and sweet pepper spice. Dark reddish purple. Inviting nose and medium-bodied palate of red berries, pomegranate, and a hint of toasted nuts on the moderate finish. Medium tannins. Medium acidity. A most typical example of mid-range Washington. The midpoint between New World fruit (but dark fruit) and Old World structure makes for an excellent American food wine. Pretty nose with lots of black fruits, chocolates and cedar notes.

Full-bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, chocolates, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, herbs, earth and black pepper.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and pomegranates.

This is a delicious Cabernet Franc from Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Rich and extracted, elegant and fruit forward. Nicely balanced with nice complexity, and a soft mouthfeel.

Still young, and needs a few more years in the bottle to mature properly, but already very approachable. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food. Will pair nicely with Lamb dishes.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2019 pours a pale straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of bright tropical fruit, apple, petrol, white flowers and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. Earthy nose with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, chocolates, Indian spices, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, earth, dark chocolates, green vegetables and herbs.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cherries, oak, dark chocolates, coffee, spices, earth, black tea, light green vegetables and peppercorn.

Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a young Cabernet Sauvignon from Spring Mountain District in Napa Valley. Elegant and nicely balanced. Fruit forward and complex, with a soft mouthfeel. Feels like a Left Bank Bordeaux.

Needed 3 hours in the decanter to open up properly, so be patient.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

I've had a few different vintages of this wine and this vintage seems to be more approachable at this young age.

Delicious by itself, and paired beautifully with the beef brisket.

A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels for 18 months.

Black as the night in the glass. Explodes on the nose and palate. Heady notes of kirsch, cinnamon raspberries ooze from the glass. Palate is weighty with overripe cherries and hints of maple syrup. Popped and poured into red Solo cups; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2006 pours a garnet/purple with an opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated black currants, blackberries, black cherries, tobacco, Poblano pepper, cocoa, fine warm spices and organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin (integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. I met Tim who was pouring initially. He is the main person behind the VC group that bought the property and three others out of BK in 1999. We all know what happened the next yr with the Glass Fires. Very unfortunate coupled w/ bad timing.

The hope to have all the restoration worked completed by 2030. They have already started replanting the vineyards that were consumed in the fire. Priority number one as it is roughly 7 yrs before you get usable fruit for quality wines.

He brought a 3L of the 79. Mags of 90, 96, 97, 05 & 06 to the event.

The “Grilled Sofrito Lamb Ribs” were off the chain. I had three. — 6 months ago

This was really impressive. My first try of Virginia wine and what a great example of the potential. Mesmerizing aromatics. Berries, herbs, coffee beans, rosemary, underbrush. Silky on the palate with a fresh and tannic finish. It’s a shame Virginia wine is almost impossible to find in Europe. If I could, I’d explore more. — 3 years ago

Had this 6 mos ago at Tasting, liked it, bought several bottles for cellar. Blend of Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot & Malbec, made by 30 year Chappellet winemaker Phillip Titus. Deep Ruby, purple edges, youthful aromas of black fruit, spices and flinty notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry with some vanilla and tobacco and herbal floral notes. Vivid acidity & firm tight tannins with long finish ending with a youthful character, aging well should benefit from bottle aging. — 7 years ago
