On the nose there is cherry, strawberry, raspberry, vanilla, spice, mushroom, forest floor and earth.
On the palate is cherry, raspberry, strawberry, vanilla, clove, red currant, spice , herbal notes, oak and earth.
This is a medium bodied wine with a fresh velvety mouthfeel medium + acidity and a mediumfine corse tannins that moves into a medium + to long red & dark fruit earthy finish. This is the 2019 Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Lafite Los Vascos Cromas Carménère Gran Reserva. From Valle de Colchagua, Chile.
The nose has notes of cherry, strawberry, unripe plum, spice, herbaceous notes, vanilla, green bell pepper and a granite minerality.
On the palate is sour cherry, raspberry, roasted red pepper, herbaceous, green peppercorn, and a granite minerality.
This wine is medium to full body and is very green with vibrant medium + acidity and medium + to high grainy tannins which leaves you with a long herbaceous sour red fruit gravelly finish. It is really hard with this one to get past the green notes of this wine. All the structure is there but either you decant for a long time or let it age for many years. Last night I opened the 2018 Los Vascos Cromas Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva. A Domaines Barons De Rothschild-Lafite from Valle de Colchagua, Chile. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah and 5% Carménère.
On the nose was black cherry, blackberry, plum, mint, black currant, herbaceous, chocolate and earth.
On the palate there was black cherry, blackberry, black currant, baking spice, black pepper, chocolate, graphite and dusty soil.
This is a full bodied wine with a smooth plush mouthfeel medium+ acidity and medium + fine tannins that has a long dark fruit crushed gravel finish. A very nice wine and great QPR. This afternoon at a late lunch we were served the 2011 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo.
In the nose there was cherry, strawberry, plum, licorice, dried roses, spice, tar, ckay pot and dusty earth.
On the palate there was strawberry, cherry, raspberry, red currant, anise, spice, leather and earth.
This wine is full bodied with a smooth velvety mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + grippy mouthcoating tannins that seemlessly move to a long red and dark fruit dusty earth finish. Definitely a nice bottle of wine and would gladly have this bottle again. We have had hot weather this week which has broke us out of the 40 and 50 degree weather. Over the Easter weekend I opened for friends the 2015 Spottswoode Family Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon. Napa Valley St. Helena, California a blend of 89%Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Other.
I let decant for at least an hour on the nose there was black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, cedar, spice, roses, crushed gravel and earth.
On the palate there was black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, licorice, mint, sandalwood, crushed gravel and earth.
This wine was rated 100 by both Jeb Dunnick and Wine Advocate whom I respect highly and can totally understand their exuberance for this wine but I couldn't make it quite there. I found that this is full bodied with a freshness and smooth mouthfeel medium + to high acidity and medium + high grainy crunchy tannins that gives a beautiful long dark fruit gravelly earthy finish. An eceptional wine by any means and I am glad to have a few more at rest in my cellar for this wine has many years to continue to develop. Our Easter weekend was one of excitement and exuberance where we had a baby shower on Saturday for our daughter who is expecting the last week of May first week of June which will be our second grandchild. Easter day we spent with family and friends which the day was spectacular. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend and I wish everyone a wonderful week ahead. Friday night I opened the 2020 Pierre Sparr Grande Reserve Pinot Blanc from Alsace.
On the nose the was apple, peach, yeast notes, white flowers, spice, minerality and crushed gravel.
On the palate was green apple, peach, yeasty bread, spice and minerality.
This wine is medium to medium+ body and medium to medium+ acidity with a medium to medium+ citrus mineral finish. I am always expecting more out of the pinot blancs but the never seem to get there for me. It is a nice wine don't get me wrong, I just hope for more. Last night I opened the 2009 Château Cambon la Pelouse. Left Bank Bordeaux from Macau in the Haut-Medoc. A blend of 54% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, tobacco, licorice, cedar, charcoal anddark earth.
On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper, cedar, licorice and pencil shavings.

Last night the wine of the evening was the 2018 Château Saby Bordeaux Superieur. Right Bank Fronsac, Saint Aignan Gironde France. 100% Merlot.

On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, pomegranate, plum, herbal notes, black currant, black tea, menthol and gravel.
This is a medium+ to full body with a smooth velvety mouthfeel medium +acidity and medium + soft fine tannins which leaves you with a medium to long juicy dark fruit earthy finish. Happy Good Friday to everyone. I have opened the 2020 Au Bon Climat Pinot Gris Pinot Blanc. The blend is 60% Pinot Gris and 40% Pinot Blanc from Santa Barbara County, California.
Onnthe nose there is white peach, meyers lemon, lime, pear, hints of oak and minerality.
On the palate I am getting citrus, lemon, green apple, pear, yeast, vanilla and steely minerality.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, mint, licorice, spice, hints of oak and earth.
This is a beautiful full bodied wine with a succulant velvety mouthfeel and medium + to high acidity and medium + grainy tannins that moves wonderfully to a long dark fruit spicy earthy finish.
