Gold and hazy. Past its peak but still intriguing. Moldy and faded on the nose with oxidative and hazelnut notes. A little fresher on the palate with present acidity and lemon and pear. The #German #dry wine industry has learned a lot in the past two decades and one aspect is how to deal with #Rieslings innately high acidity. #1997 was a very fine year throughout the various regions, but this is drying out and was clearly not intended for long-term aging in excess of 10 years.

Honey-brioche and almond extract commingle with orange blossom, crystalline honey, light maple syrup and butter, marmalade with aromatic musk. The warm flavors of mouth-coating, unctuous citrus defy comparison, but evocative of marmalade hard candy, candied oranges, tangerine, clementine, nectarine, dried apricot, Meyer lemon essences, and baked apple and yellow pear. Golden; delicious.
