#chianticlassico too much funk — 3 years ago
Odd mix of mascarpone and rubber tree, almond extract, cookie dough, caramelized banana, candied pecan with cinnamon bagel and cedar, fir tree, croissant, marmalade and loose cigar filler. Orange caramel glass on the palate opening to clove and candied ginger, even bringing an accompanying heat. Peach reduction, rum cake, and vanilla in abundance. Spirited and layered. #vinsanto #badiaacoltibuono #vinsantodelchianticladsico #doc #organicwines #estatewine #chianticlassico #seasonalwine #organicitalianwine #vinoitaliano #dessertwine — 5 years ago
Heavy floral notes with lavender and violet, carnation, cherry blossom and red rose, booming amid dried black cherry espresso and cocoa, though distinctly separate. Dark toasted sesame, rye bread, and crumbled earth. Bright cherry palate turns dusty in all the right ways, leaning into cocoa nib and espresso oils. Lovely and dry with dried cran and red currant but exhibits miles of lingering blood orange citrus and crystalline cherry. Gorgeous. Eternally evolving and all of it amazing. The concrete egg has made something ethereal that also shows a mysterious depth. Great range.

Lower alcohol than past years; better balance, less VA...and better for it. Fine, dusty and rare beef-bloody with an attractive, resinous top note. This should be a real treat in 3-4 years. #isoleeolena #chianticlassico — 7 years ago
Medium-bodied but nicely spicy #chianticlassico , earthy #sangiovese and shy fruit. Not too bad but was expecting better. #wsjwineclub — 8 years ago
Savory, earthier expression of #chianticlassico - bit of funk to start and some reticent plum and dried cherry notes come out after time. Robust acidity on the palate with soft tannins - for the price would be a great weeknight burger wine. — 2 years ago
Typically brilliant #chianticlassico 85% #sangiovese 15% #merlot. Red / violet floral + woodsy nose, classic earthy-iron varietal aroma, bright acidity, soft tannins and a bit of roundness courtesy of the Merlot, some spice on the finish. Brilliant pairing with Chicken Paillard topped with blue cheese which brought out the spice in the wine, interestingly enough. — 2 years ago
Homemade pizza with a 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva from Castello di Monsanto. The wine displays aromas of red currant, black berries, spices, licorice, green pepper and some other herbal notes. The palate confirms the nose with the dark berry notes. Medium finish and some chewy tannins. We decanted it for 1 hour. Lovely bottle for the price point.

Always fun finding affordable treasures. Really enjoyed this deep and spicy #chianticlassico #querciabella #sangiovese #italianwine #italianredwine #italianred #organicwines #redwine #docg — 6 years ago
Raspberry, cocoa powder, late summer herbs and a tiny drop of VA. A rich, soft 2015 that shows more than adequate concentration. Crowd pleasing. An underrated estate, in my opinion...and the wines are always good value. #volpaia #sangiovese #chianticlassico — 7 years ago
This pleasant #chianticlassico was a perfect accompaniment to the perfect bruschetta that was shared among friends. Deep garnet hue offered a note of currant and a touch of blackberry, coupled with a moderate mineral aroma and voila! #castelgreve #chianti #redwine #italianwines #jamessuckling90pts — 8 years ago

Interesting, complex lighter-style #chianticlassico. Pretty much nonexistent red fruit up front on the nose, loads of mushroom instead, distant bramble fruit on the back. Hefty acidity up front on palate, distinctive #sangiovese iron notes, mushroom, leather and moderate plus tannins on finish. Great wine for mushroom pasta or a mushroom burger. — 2 years ago
Decent QPR #chianticlassico - Deep magenta-purple hue in glass. Uncorks pretty tight but scent evolves nicely in wine fridge over a few days. Mellow dry cherry, leather, tilled earth aromas. Medium-body, laid back dark fruit taste, toasted oak and some grippy tannins finishing with lithe acidity. Not too bad for ~$10 at Costco though I might prefer more fruit + acidity for creamy pasta pairings. — 5 years ago
So soft. The tannins are fine grained and quite supple. Aromas of black fruit, paprika and dark chocolate. #chianti #chianticlassico #granselezione — 6 years ago
The 2015 Fontodi Chianti Classico is an over-performer in every possible way, showing masses of black cherry and raspberry with dusty minerals, hints of cedar and new leather. There’s a cool-toned precision beneath it’s warm vintage fruit, with grippy tannins which quickly firm up the experience, while zesty acids tug at the cheeks. A minute later and I can still feel it’s youthful poise, along with lingering tart berries and hints of spice. #fontodi #chianticlassico #sangiovese #tuscanwine — 6 years ago
Montreal treated us well especially by introducing us to #Laquerceseconda #niccolonernabei #chianticlassico #redwine #italianwines #italy2015 #italianred Watermelon and cherry flavors popped with this tasty Chianti. So easy to “slurp” Perfect with our pizza! — 7 years ago
Prototypical #chianticlassico and a nice wine for the price. Wild cherry, tartness and some #sangiovese spice. — 8 years ago
Robust spice, tart cherry and shy fruit flavor. Not bad at all for the price but of course #chianticlassico can get much more refined than this. — 8 years ago

Give this one some time to open up. Wild cherry + dried cherries, touch of dried herbs on the nose. Medium plus body, juicy acidity and grippy tannins cruising out on a long finish. Lovely #chianticlassico #granselezione for under $20. #costcowines — a year ago
