Lovely deep garnet, red fruit, opened up over the evening — 2 months ago
Presented to me double-blind at Tasting Group. The wine pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core and rust colored rim; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of light sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and drying fruits: lightly stewed blackberries, black cherry, plums, tobacco, dried green herbs, old fine wood, vanilla and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long.
Initial conclusions: this could be Tempranillo, Malbec, Merlot (or based blend), or Zinfandel-based blend from Spain, Argentina, France or the United States. However, the staining was a bit much unless there was a lot of PS in the blend so I eliminated Zinfandel. I also didn’t think this was purple enough for Malbec. This left me with Tempranillo or Merlot and I felt that this leaned more towards its structure than fruit so I was leaning Spain or France with 15-20 years of age and from a solar vintage. Ultimately, I chose Tempranillo, from Spain, Rioja, Gran Reserva from 2006…from a quality producer like C.V.N.E. Yeah, I can see Pomerol. Shoot. This is stuff and ready to drink now and will drink well through 2032+. — 3 months ago
A rich crimson in colour. Initially a note of Animale (Barb thought a brief note of cow yard) amongst the dusty cherry, dark fruits, violets and mushroom notes. Great balance between the 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. Medium bodied with smooth supple tannins. The next day: Elegance with length - shows the quality of the fruit IMO. My first Lafleur, I think, and it was excellent as expected. — 4 months ago

Typical Pomerol nose of violets and blueberries and raspberries.
In the mouth nice structure, not overly extracted. Nice and elegant.

Pop and pour (practically) — can’t be helped.
NOSE: something savory, blackberry, and a little violet. Mild clove. A little clay. Something…Mexican?
TASTE: juicy, purple cassis and clay. Fresh and tasty. The kind of wine I like, basically. Blueberry pie after air. 93.

Opened just prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. As far as I know, this was the first commercially released vintage of La Fleur de Boüard but others may be able to confirm or deny that. The 2000 pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe dark fruits: back plums, cassis, pipe tobacco, Flintstones vitamins, purple flowers, dried green herbs organic earth and fine baking spices. “Yabba dabba doo!” On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Gosh, this is in a really lovely place right now; very well balanced! Thank Andy! Drink now through 2040. — 4 months ago

I decanted for sediment and allowed to breathe for a couple of hours prior to serving double-blind to my friends. The 1966 Chateau Nenin pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core moving out to a slightly amber rim; medium viscosity with no obvious staining of the tears but there is some sediment. On the nose (and oh what a nose it is!), the wine is vinous with a beautiful combination of ripe and desiccated fruits: notes of ripe plums, brambles, purple flowers, pipe tobacco, fennel, baking spices, iron rich earth and forest floor. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+, soft and the texture is thin. One of those wow experiences. The room was all over the place with their calls: Spain, Australia, USA, Italy and France with most expecting 20-30 years of age. None were particularly surprised when it was revealed to be Pomerol. All were stunned when they learned it was a ‘66. Evergreen. Drink now with a two hour decant and well stored examples have years of life left — 10 months ago

Beautiful color of dark ruby with a wide reddish rim.
Strong nose of black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, dried fruits, cedar, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco and herbs.
Full bodied and soft, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate and fruit forward with blackberries, black currants, black plums, cherries, cedar, spices, dark chocolates, licorice, coffee, peppercorn, light eucalyptus, herbs, light vegetables, earth and black tea.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 20 year old Merlot from Saint Emilion is absolutely fantastic now. Elegant, chocolatey and rich.
Drinking beautifully right out of the bottle, extracted and complex. Nicely balanced and powerful, with a great mouthfeel.
Wine Advocate 98 points.
Drinking it with the wine maker, from his personal cellar, makes it even more special for me.
Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 10 years.
Fruit forward and good by itself as a sipping wine.
A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Aged in New French oak barrels for 18 months.
94 points.

Still pretty alive, albeit more into tertiary notes with some fruit still evident, at 47 years old. — 4 months ago
The nose shows some light VA but doesn’t ruin it. Muddled fruits of; blackberries, both plums, black raspberries, stewed, dark cherries & aged strawberries that almost fall into liquor characteristic. Chocolate pudding, dark, rich & slight sweet earthiness with dry leaves, limestone, stems, baking soda, sandalwood and withering to decayed, dark & red flowers.
The palate is gorgeous and shows less VA than the nose. It’s really good despite the VA. Beautiful, ripe; blackberries, both plums, black raspberries, stewed, dark cherries, strawberries notes of rhubarb. Chocolate pudding, dark, understated baking spices, dark spice that presses the tongue, rich & slightly sweet earthiness with dry leaves, limestone, stems, baking soda, sandalwood, used leather, moist tobacco, tea leaves, some cola, withering to decayed, dark & red flowers, excellent acidity and a softly knitted, balanced and elegant finish that lasts 90 seconds and falls on spice.
Already throwing sediment with the bottle half full.
Drink now and for another 10-15 years. — 4 months ago
Gravelly and sandy nose. Very terroir driven. Nice one. 93+ — 5 months ago
Vintage 2010 | gave it two hours in decanter, a barnyard stinky in smell (not everyone appreciates this, I do), cedar very present, hints of spices and a good concentration. When accompanied with food it is ready to drink now. Fine right bank wine, neighbour of Cheval Blanc (I take a special interest in neighbours of the priceless top domaines). — 5 months ago
