A sad day. The last of the 2018s. These were great. — 22 days ago
Hint of the grain, a bit of the spirit up front, decent finish. Nice scotch, even if not super complex. — a month ago
I think there was the faintest hint of volatile acidity, but otherwise a very nice straightforward red with some depths. Good fruit, forest red berries, nice integrated tannins and a medium finish. — 7 days ago
Day 24 of the 2025 Whisky Advent Calendar. This is the 13 yr old Kilchoman Islay single malt. Very, very peaty but with an intense spiciness and no ash. And a smooth vanilla at the end, plus the alcohol hit. I have a mixed relationship with peat, but when it’s done right … I think this is really really good. — 22 days ago
Liked this. There was instant Laphroig peat right up front, but surprising as there was not so much on the nose. I don’t love heavy peat, but I thought this was nicely balanced with a rich caramel and spice. — a month ago
Nice dry red fruit up front, tannins a tiny bit bitter at first but not too prominent, but what was a bit disappointing was a very short finish. — 13 days ago
Meh. A bit sharp or citrusy at first, and then a honeyed finish. — a month ago
Not particularly aromatic up front. Almost surprising because there is a bit of a peat hot up front. But didn’t get complexity or subtlety, and I thought the finish was ashy. — a month ago
Raun Kupiec
Deep honey yellow, waxy white flowers on the nose, honeysuckle and lemon (but a deep round and not overly tart lemon). A little hint of petrol, but only a hint. Mellow Nice, but I may have waited too long. I don’t find it powerful enough or distinct enough. — 7 hours ago
