We went after finding a few bottles after we tasted the 2014. Nose of crushed flowers, tobacco, tar, and a dollop of asian spices. Oh soo good in the mouth, relatively accessible but prominent tannins and will do much better in 5 to 7 years. Our kind of Barolo, phenomenal with food. Top stuff. — 3 years ago
Dry, acidic, medium bodied with noticeable tannins. Red fruit and a nice mineral touch to it. — 6 years ago
This is an aromatic wine, for starters. The E5's nose blasts dark fruit and a drawer full of savory aromas. There are cigars, trod-upon leaves, tar and an old catcher’s mitt in that dark liquid. Herbs abound, with thyme, sage, nutmeg and peppers leading the way. On the palate it's blackberry land, with a heapin’ helpin’ of currant and licorice. The flavors are rough-cut and rustic, as is the tannic structure. This wine needs a big, fatty steak to give it something useful to do. — 7 years ago
Velvety texture, amazing black cherry aroma, notes of cranberry and earthy cinnamon. What a pleasure to drink. — 8 years ago
A massive step up compared to the Kirchspiel. All the same striking attitudes but more of them. Lean, precise and long. An incredible performance for a debut vintage. Although the price point is relatively high I would say that its worth every penny. Go for it if you can find a bottle. — 10 years ago
100% Sangiovese, wet leaves, red sour cherries, went great with a Margarita Pizza — 11 years ago
An experience. Intense morello and crimson fruit with lithe structure and a mushroomy edge. Memorable meal. — 6 months ago

Dark inky in color with a reddish rim.
Nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries, light mildew, earth, herbs, spices, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, light forest floor and black pepper.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.
Very dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, earth, dried meats, black tea and light vegetables.
Short finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 19 year old Syrah from Northern Rhône is still drinking nicely, although definitely not at its peak anymore.
Not in your face kind of wine at this point. Elegant, with nice complexity. Interesting, and still powerful.
Mildew and forest floor notes start to disappear after 90 minutes in the decanter. Still showing some fruit notes though, which is nice to see.
Good by itself or with food.
13% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

One of the most memorable wines ever. First thing I noticed was the color, very pale garnet. Spice and wet dirt on the nose, very little fruit. The palate was amazing: rusted iron and sandalwood. Each sip was more and more compelling. A wine that you want to drink slowly and to savor. Only 1 bottle, unfortunately. — 5 years ago
Great wine at a great price! — 8 years ago
Wonderful acidity, well balanced fruit, a firm finish. This is top shelf Barbera and a real delight. Bravo. — 9 years ago
A mid cherry red in colour. Aromatics of red fruits, menthol and touches of tar and roses. Light to medium bodied on the palate - surprising for a Barolo with medium plus intensity. Different and interesting in a good vintage from an excellent producer. Next in a year. — 8 months ago
This was (is)...pretty damn divine. I literally stopped mid-conversation. Starts out with some pretty intense red fruitiness sitting in a pocket of rich earthy tobacco but then! It just evolves giving ya some ash, leather, notes of spearmint, rose petal here, a broken twig there all with this great long chewy finish. It’s like a goddamn stroll through through some majestic countryside where you stop and check out all those little details. — 5 years ago
A beautiful Condrieu! Very floral and mineral. Honeysuckle and fresh grass, lovely legs and an oily appearance, but it’s light and spicy at the finish. Perfect for summer and paired with fish or Asian food. — 6 years ago
Decanted for approximately 40 minutes. Blend of Syrah, Grenache, and a smidgen of Mourvèdre. The best vintage of this I think I’ve had. Generous with the red and black fruits, soft but firming tannins on the back end and posses a long finish. Great structure and balance. Surprised that I found a vintage of this age for a basic CDR at a grocery store and it is showing really well. Fantastic QPR. $14 @ H-E-B. — 8 years ago
A nice Barolo with our ox tail pasta! — 8 years ago
Nez exubérant sur la viande, le fumé. On a plus de fruit en bouche, c'est bien fondu et puissant à la fois. Très bon — 9 years ago

Bouquet opened with dark wood and cake. Very tanniny, needs to breathe for a bit. Stone fruits and berries after it breathes. — 10 years ago
Conrad Green

Wow. Intense and pure in the nose. A hint of tang with an amazing fresh core given the age. Dark tang fruit with underbrush and mineral/ iron/ iodine notes. Pure and delicious. A great bottle. — 5 months ago
