Very dark in colour - almost black. Lots of everything - ripeness, oak, blackberry, dark chocolate. The sort of wine I would have loved in my 20βs, not so much in my 70βs. Not for lovers of delicate wine - this is full throttle. This Australian producer is probably better known in the USA than Australia - like Mollydooker. A full bodied palate with M plus intensity and grainy tannins. Ranked No. 3 in Wine Spectators Top 100 wines of 2012. Not sure that extended cellaring will make a huge difference but will try to have the last one in early 2027. β a month ago
Nice wine for its age, subtle with a light nose β 2 months ago
We finally had the chance to clink glasses π₯ to celebrate our D6 results and completion of WSET Diploma! Β π₯³
We decided to pop this bottle of 2009 Penfolds βGrangeβ that weβve been holding onto for some timeβ¦ β°
Itβs a 98% Shiraz and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon blend π made with grapes hailing from vineyards of Barossa Valley (primarily), McLaren Vale, Clare Valley and Magill Estate, all situated in South Australia. π¦πΊ
It had a medium garnet hue ποΈ with medium (+) intensity of layered aromas ππ» and flavors π including plush and concentrated notes of red and black cherry, cassis, boysenberry, dried fig, blueberry, violet, cocoa nibs, mocha, cedar, dill, vanilla, nutmeg, anise seed, clove, licorice, mint, forest floor, tobacco, leather, peppercorn, and meat. π
On the palate, it was dry with medium acidity, a lusciously full body, medium (+) velvety tannins, high alcohol (14.5% ABV) and a long finish. ππ»
It was a spectacular wine, ripe for the occasion.Β Cheers! β 17 days ago
Deep garnet in color; raisins, blackberries, and oak on the nose; medium minus acidity; medium tannins; tastes like black cherries, molasses, and a hint of chocolate with a long finish. Probably a little past prime, but still tasty. Jason says it's ok. β 2 months ago
Loved this wine. Would go great with gamey meats. β 3 months ago
Meaty, charcuterie notes together with black and blue fruits. The palate is rich and savoury - full bodied on the earthy spectrum with ripe plum. Bests are an under the radar Gem in the Grampians. It should be a regular purchase particularly at the price. An average price of around $30. β 15 days ago

very fruity β 19 days ago
very very light, oaky notes, red fruit, slightly acidic, smooth finish, personally I think it was aged a perfect amount, got better as it airated, I donβt really taste a specific fruit note but it is fruity in general, possible berry notes. paired every well with steak β 2 months ago
Deep ruby/purple opaque, pepper, tobacco and red fruit, lovely Shiraz β 2 months ago

I love Penfolds Grange...one of my all time favourite wines. The depth and concentration of flavour of this 33 year old wine is outstanding...i think these will just go forever. Massive wine and a reminder of how excellent Syrah is! β 23 days ago
