Loads of complexity to this Cab. Red and black berries with a nice mouthfeel. Tannins soften after a good decant. — 3 months ago
My last bottle so I decided to treat the group on New Years Day. Inky purple and a amazing nose right out of the bottle. Loads of red and black fruits with licorice, cedar and leather throughout. Complex finish and beautiful tannins. Once in a while bottle that delivers. Might have been up against its life span, but still a keeper. — 5 months ago
Aromatic masterpiece. Opens to loads of fresh cherries and raspberries. Soon the lavender and aromatics appear. Paul does wonders with a balance of concentrated fruits and complexity. Dark to med bodied. Wonderfully drinkable Pinot wine. — 3 days ago
2006 needed a long decant. Opens with red fruits and florals. Followed by darker black cherries, flowers and cigar box. This is a fuller bodied Barolo dome in a Serralunga style. The finish is elegant and long, softer tannins offer wonderful finesse. Side note. I opened 2 identical bottles. Purchased at the same time, cellared together and they drank very differently. — a month ago
Rating a day later. This is a big wine that needed a long decant. 4-5 hrs and it never really fully opened. What did open shows a great nose and layers of complexity. Silky smooth. Mostly red fruits with a bit of spice complementing a long finish. 60% Merlot and 40% Cab blend. It's also a wine that needs 3-5 yrs min and probably 10. — 5 months ago
Solid performer from Hall. Loads of plum, black cherry, black tea and wild berry notes, with a dash of graphite. Gave it a good 1 hr decant and it opened nicely. Fine tannins on the finish. As with most Hall wines it has a lot of fruit forward until it settles in. — a month ago
Bought some .375 just for that "I don't want to open a full bottle". It's just okay. Not much happening in this 2019. Not sure where the ratings come from. Little fruit, little structure and a marginal finish. — 4 months ago
I'm a fan of this wine. Cherry opener with a red and black fruit mid. Earthy as you'd like a Pinot to be. Black tea, herbs and some smoke to finish. — 6 months ago
Ken Venezio
Close to the edge of life on this 2018 but still delivers black tea and a bit of spice. Some bright cherry mid palate with wet stone and dusty earth. Still has a nice finish. Very drinkable and just what you'd expect from an aged Santa Lucia Pinot. — a day ago
