Best solution on a hot humid summer day. — 3 months ago
New to wine. This was one of the first quality reds I was recommended. Should age well and has decent tannins. — 3 months ago
I am seldom dumbfounded when it comes to wine. So, I appreciate it when that happens.
This 1990 La Grande Dame was amazing and so fresh. Full disclosure, I am not normally impressed by this producer and this cuvée. Unusual for a champagne of 35 yrs to be so fresh in my experience from inception. So much so, if poured blind many would call it N/V or a fairly recent vintage. The color was even palish straw. Mags were brought from their Champagne House.
Excellent with the dessert of the evening, “Lemon Meringue Pie Cookie.”
Enjoyed at the 2026 “From Cellar Event” Pebble Beach Food and Wine.

Deep, dark Ruby red color with a fruit forward nose, lots of ripe berries with oaky notes. Jammy big and bold blackberry flavors with some spice, cacao, cedar and leather notes with nice mouthfeel. Big fine tannins with berry fruit carried over to the finish with oak and sweet spice. — 3 months ago
1990 vintage. Low neck fill. Opened with a Durand but not decanted. Cork 45% saturated but in good shape. Both darker color and slightly less sediment than expected. Secondary and tertiary nose but (still!!??) some primary and ripe cherry and plum flavors in the front and mid-palates. Consistent palate push without any potholes, gaps or regrets. Phenomenal tobacco and fudge notes in the caboose. Based on this baddy, can hold steady for another 5-6 years before a scoring recalibration. Not the biggest Pomerol fan but this didn’t suck. 3.20.26 — 6 months ago

Classic La Mission nose that is in a perfect spot showing red & black fruits, cedar, leather, earth, graphite, spice box along with sweet tobacco — 3 months ago
This is the best bottle of wine I’ve had from my cellar in years. Nearly perfect. Bought it in 2008 for $30 and one of my great finds. Good lord it was just divine. I’m sure there have been better vintages but I can’t imagine it. — 4 months ago
Opened prior to dinner and enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The wine pours a deep ruby/purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and desiccated black and red fruits: mixed brambles, Flintstone vitamins, spiced meat, olives, purple flowers, black pepper, dried herbs, rocky earth, a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Similar to the 1997 we tasted alongside, with all of the same notes except this brought back the familiar Flintstone vitamins that I have encountered in La Mouline from the past. The structure was also more substantial. I preferred this to the 1997 tonight…but I’m splitting hairs! — 5 months ago

One of my favorite cabs. Wonderfully balanced complexity, silky mouth feel, a bit chewy with a delightful finish. Put it up for a couple of years if you can wait. — 9 months ago
