It’s a decent steak wine. Not aromatic at first, needed an hour or so. Still not enough but the oak notes began to come through. Some nice fruit, black cherry, bit of spice, enough structure to counter the salt. Was very smooth while eating. — 4 days ago
2012 drunk in 2024. Impressed with how well this stood up. Mature fruit, and smooth, but very present tannins. Extra points for exceeding expectations. — 16 days ago
My favorite of the Stags’ Leap porch tasting. Although no petite sirah (which they are known for). Silky & complex.

Little comparative tasting between the 17’ and 12’ vintages:
2017- deep ruby color. Aromas of blackberry, raspberry, flint and cedar. Youthful wine, loads of black fruit on the palate, spice and vanilla notes.
2012- deep ruby with garnet rim. Aromas of blackberry and blueberry. Black currant and leather and oak finish. Solid.

06/2024. Nice full bodied cab. Full fruit and nice on the palate. Paired well with the pork chop at Mr. Friendly’s. — 20 days ago
