Another great wine from Bordeaux by Barde-Haut. EXCELLENT 2001!!! — 4 days ago
Gorgeous nose of sweet wood, bittersweet cocoa, tobacco, spices and striking loamy minerality. This wine goes to 11 on the nose with air but compared to the 16 it is more aromatically exciting on the pop and pour. Palate is rich and ripe with deep cassis and berry fruit but also terrific energy and minerality. A gorgeous mid palate plumpness as well. Really nice and long finish. Such amazing energy and with the requisite ripeness of 18 it still has stunning freshness and energy. Now after some coaxing the air has really opened tbis nose with glorious ethereal spices and sweet tobacco. — an hour ago
Annual birthday WWC hosting. As normal, 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert, all presented blind.
Fun to open birth year wines around your birthday, especially when you can do a Bordeaux and Napa side by side. While not a great vintage, this held up well after a few hours and presented as expected. Clean and zero Brett. Great color! Deep ruby with hardly any bricking. Leather, cassis, vanilla pipe tobacco on the nose. Sporting a good bit of dusty red and black fruits (mostly tart raspberries and blackberries), there was a little savory truffle note mixed with an herbal and mocha finish. Still quite grippy. Pretty. — a month ago
Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (24%), Cabernet Franc (6%) and Petite Verdot (5%). Dark Ruby/purple color. Aromas of blueberry, black currants, violets and tobacco. Black fruit (blackberry, black currant, black plum) on the palate with hints of chocolate, black licorice, baking spices and black pepper. Medium-plus bodied and a slight note of mineral/graphite on the long flavorful finish. Well integrated oak, creamy texture and lively acidity. — 19 days ago
This rating is just my taste. Not a reflection of the quality of the wine. I generally don’t care for the St Emilion region. The wine is just too austere for me. It’s 22% cab franc. It had a slight puckering dried out character without balance to me. Definitely can tell it’s a well made wine. Perhaps with a strong food pairing this would be a better experience for me but it was a wine I didn’t enjoy drinking. — 23 days ago
I’ve always found these wines to need just so much age to show well (I do think that changed starting in 2017), but at age 12 Roumier’s Bussiere is absolutely ready to go after sufficient air, wafting gorgeous, distinctive aromatics synonymous with Roumier even if it’s not Chambolle. It’s dark fruited but well defined, perfumed with violets, cocoa bean and exotic spices. The palate shows the density and concentration of the vintage with both power and elegance, fine grained tannins and a saline-mineral laced finale. Fantastic showing of 2012 Clos de la Bussière with many great years ahead. — 8 hours ago
Splash decanted directly prior to service, the 2018 Morey Saint Denis pours a deep ruby with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose the wine is youthful with powerful notes of ripe and tart red fruits: red cherries, red brambles, red flowers, some herbs and a healthy dollop of warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and luxurious. A fairly flashy wine and, to my palate, the oak is showing prominently right now. Not out of balance, but close. The alcohol is up there…but it is pretty well disguised. Not wimpy, that’s for sure. While this is certainly full of energy and character right now, I think this wine would enjoy some time in the cellar to show even better. Drink from 2028 through 2043. — a month ago
This should cellar longer. Maybe another 5 yrs before I try again. Decanted over 3 hrs. Tight in first hour. It needs a lot air now. Many layers and complex fruit. It lingers. Meaty after taste. Dark fruit. Earthy. I liked it very much and look forward to the next one. — 21 days ago
Beautiful. A bit of everything. Freshness, depth, fruit and minerality. Long and pleasant finish.

Nice all around wine, deep dark purplish red in color. Nose is a little tight, but the flavor is all there. Dark fruit with a little spice and dry finish. Holds up well to grilled and spicy foods. — 5 days ago
Solid 2023 rose. A little pricey ($17.99). — 3 days ago

2018 vintage. Meyney likely the best cheap chicken/affordable value play in St. Estèphe (and arguably amongst all the big BDX AOC's). Medium body with beyond pleasant mix of oak, fruit, earth, body, complexity, stuffing and howdoyoudo. Super stuff for the price and beyond that. 5.9.24. — 16 days ago
