Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2021

Referred to as the “Baby Grange,” blend of 53/47 Cab Sauv & Shiraz, aged for 12 months in American oak, partly in previous-vintage Grange casks. Dark Ruby with aromas of fresh black fruits, complex with sweet spice. On the palate flavors of juicy black cherry and blackberry flavors with notes of cacao, oak and toasty spices, from cooler vintage. Well balanced with acidity, full ripe tannins, long ending with smoky spice, fruit well integrated with oak, drink over next 10 years+, will only get better. Nice! — 4 months ago

Apple that had begun to rot in the cider bin (in a good way!) minerals and balanced oak integration. A very long and complex finish. — 5 years ago

Domaine Dujac

Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1980

This may go down as red wine of the year for me. Which given the time of year and upcoming events is High Praise indeed. But none the less reality. Epic nose. The unmistakable smell of a slaughterhouse over summer. Meat and blood. A huge hit of licorice, leather, and smoke and cherries. The Finish lasted nearly a minute, and had a Mossy granite tone to it that reminded me of climbing in the gunks in the fog. Amazing. So fortunate to have been asked to share this with great friends. #poolwine — 7 years ago

Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2019

A warm vintage produced a wine with gentle tannins and soft red fruit with raspberry, strawberry, red currant, violet and an enticing hint of graphite and forest floor. Beautiful balance of tannin and fruit with medium acidity and a very long finish. — 7 months ago

Domaine Taupenot-Merme

Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2020

Delectable Wine
9.6

The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is understated on the nose, unfolding in the glass with fine delineation and poise, becoming more floral with aeration but never impeding across the pure red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, taut and fresh, on another level of freshness compared to its peers with a prolonged, lightly spiced finish. This is one of the standout wines from this Grand Cru - superb. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2024)

2018 vintage. A little richer than last vintage which was absolutely incredible. May need some time, but lacking a bit of that electric acidity and minerality. Still great — 5 years ago
