A nice comparison of French St. Julien and French winemaker, in the US with a Napa Cab.
The 1972 vintage was one of the legendary five Cabs selected for the 1976 Paris Tasting.
This 1975, had a deep garnet color with a brick rim. Loads of blackberry on the nose, casis and earthy notes. Fruit forward, black fruit and plum dominate, nice tannins. This wine definitely evolved through the evening.
Previous Notes Apply to the 75 St Julien:
Deep ruby color. Aromas of red fruit, leather and earthy notes. Amazing flavors, blackberry, black currant, tobacco and baking spices.

Candied fruit in the nose with blackberry jam, plums and candied fruit in the palate. — 4 months ago
Been awhile since I’ve had this one. Always consistently good.
Beautiful mousse, bruised red apple & Bosc pear, underripe pineapple flesh, blood orange, quince, nougat, hints of white peach, white spice-ginger, whipped cream, yeasty bread dough, sea spray, speckled chalk bits, grey volcanics, limestone, withering yellow lilies/flowers, crisp acidity, well tensioned-structured, well balanced and elegant finish that last two-minutes.

Clear, deep ruby in color (almost purple); on the nose, it's clean with pronounced primary and secondary aromas of black cherries, cassis, and graphite; on the palate, it's dry with medium acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of black plum, violets, blueberries, and wet slate with a long finish. This wine is intense and complex, but could use a bit more acidityto balance the fruit. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. Nellie liked it with food. — 23 days ago
A blend of 4 grand cru and one blanc de blanc. As good as I have enjoyed from Piper H — 4 months ago
I’ve waxed (eloquent? Well, at least waxed!! 🤔) about the virtues and quality of this excellent 2020 Zinfandel multiple times, but this wine is still punching well above its weight (the so-called “leftovers” that didn’t make the single vineyard cut), long finish, lovely!! Going to the Bedrock pickup party in Sonoma tomorrow to get some of the 2024s I’ve already purchased, so this is a great warmup!! — 15 days ago
blue fruit. mineral and chalky. — 2 months ago
A popular US import here in Zürich, at least with my family. Had it many times, very consistent. Solid Cab, very bold and fruit-forward, a little syrupy, some red licorice. Some haters on Delectable, but it never let me down. Very grill-worthy with plenty of smoked meats. — 2 months ago
Light peach in color.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate and complex.
Showing limes, green apples, herbs, earth, yeast, brioche, light strawberries, spices, minerals and white pepper.
Nice finish, elegant and easy drinking.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with fried shrimp and calamari.
A blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Meunier. Bottled in 2009 and disgorged in 2017.
12% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
