Domaine Drouhin-Laroze

Bonnes Mares Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2012

2012 vintage. Last tasted 12.27.24 (9.3). Similar notes. Decanted and tasted after 2.5 hours. Super complex with those dark fruits and herbaceous cameos/visits. Really smooth medium/medium heavy body. Not too shabby. 9.5.26. — 12 days ago

Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 1990

Classic Besucastel! I first visited this property in 1987, and the Brett character was unmistakeable. This 1990 is aging extremely well. Strong Brett aromas, but the fruit is also strong and in balance. If you are one that thinks Brett is an unforgivable flaw, you will hate this. Great Chateauneuf from a great vintage! Celebrating my son’s 33rd birthday tonight (1993 wasn’t a great vintage in CdP!) with a perfectly grilled NY steak. I am very pleased with this wine — 2 months ago

so much bang for the buck - reminds me of when southern Rhône used to be affordable... captivating wine: gorgeous dark ruby color, deep reservoir of black & red fruits, pepper, garrigue and exotic spices. Composed, graceful, med bodied palate, beautiful balance w/bright acidity carrying all the flavors thru long smooth finish — 25 days ago

Domaine des Lambrays

Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2005

2005 vintage.
Rich black cherries, cocoa spice, orange peel, dark flowers, subois and earthy.
Long generous finish with crisp acidity and fine grained tannins.
This was bequeathed to me years ago at a Celebration of Life for a gentleman who was greatly influential and guiding on my wine journey.
A stunning wine from an incredible individual.
Cheers everyone.

Special moments, Jamie. I once got a Gloria 1959 from a wine reseller who liked my youthful enthusiasm. The birthyear of my wife, we drank it with the birth of our first child. 🫶

This is a very nice wine. Enjoyed with a pork chop with cranberry glaze and friends. Light and delicate nose of fruit and terroir. The wine is nicely balanced with soft tannins, delicious acidity and works perfect! Enjoy!! — 5 days ago

Clos de Tart Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2017

Medium ruby with a medium garnet rim . Touch more sweetness on the nose , with rose , ripe cherry , red plum , raspberry , blood orange and some slightly toasty notes . On the palate this is juicy and quite sweet fruit profiled with raspberry, strawberry, quite fruit dominated . Rounded but noticeable tannins , fresh vibrant acidity and decent length . This is quite young, certainly compared to the Malconsorts , pretty sweet fruit , but overall well balanced and probably just needs a little more time . Quite a lot appears to be hidden at the moment , comes across a little one dimensional, but I think it will get there . Come back in 5-8 years, should drink well a further 10, if not more. — 2 months ago

Domaine Hubert Lignier

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2001

Hubert Lignier's Clos de la Roche 2001 is an elegant beast—powerful in structure, layered and unfolding progressively, with fleshy texture, dark fruit, and black pepper intertwining. It's a very 'un-Roche' Roche. I've had AR's Roche and Dujac's Roche before, but neither had this kind of sheer power.

The 2014 DRC Richebourg exceeded expectations. I wasn't a big fan of the 2014 vintage before—it's a weaker year after all. But this one only started to open up after three hours of decanting, from 5 PM to 8 PM. I poured it three times over the evening, and each glass showed a different evolution:

· First glass: hawthorn and sour plum soup.
· Second glass: elegant rose perfume began to emerge, along with white pepper spice.
· Third glass: fully opened—red fruit, floral notes, and licorice intertwined, with a slender, lean, elegant frame—charming and refined, never cloying.

What a joyful evening. Both bottles were absolutely delightful!
