Drank with my buddies Geoff and Danny. It's amazing. Here is the thing when drinking next to a 70 R Mondavi CS you really see the Bordeaux wooly aromatic thing. Je suis un fan de muscadet. Pas de ces versions acides et étriquées à vous détartrer ce qu’il vous reste d’émail aux dents, non. Plutôt de ces envolées fluides, légères, agiles et admirablement tracées livrées par un melon de bourgogne traité aux petits oignons. Monkey 47 Dry Distiller Gin. Slightly hazy, water white, colourless. Pronounced intensity of perfume, juniper, lingonberry, violets, lavender, orange and grapefruit zest. With water added, more perfume and citrus notes to the fore. Dry on the palate. Warming alcohol, medium body, pronounced flavour intensity. Long finish. Very complex. Reticent on both nose and palate for 1st hour. Both unfurl with air. Meat, black fruit, floral on nose. Expands in glass. Palate fills out: nice whack of salty earth, iron, meat, black cherry. Buoyed by ripe tannins and sneaky acidity. No hurry here, but a very satisfying 2006. Re-buy, enthusiastically. — 11 years ago
