Vintage 2015 / Imagine you find a vineyard with almost 50 years old Chenin Blanc and you are able to make wine from it. Frederic Mabileau must have been thrilled. This vineyard in Saumur is 1 hectare. Minerals in smell, a lot of minerals. Also vanilla (16 months en foudre). Hints of tropical fruit, hay, enormous powerful in taste with good acidity. The nose is typical with cherry, Raspberry, hay, Cola, even... This is quite welcoming. The palate shows some matter and a great acid drive. There are cherry notes dancing all along the acid drive, some width and some nice, a tiny bit thicker than usual mouthfeel. Some lively tannins kick in in the rear before a fruity finish with some salty, meaty touches in the end. This is a beautiful Julienas and I'm glad I have another bottle to leave on the side for a while. — 3 years ago

Cork came out in 3 pieces, but no cork pieces left in bottle. Color is still medium-red, very faint browning on edges, massive cedar and cigar box aromatics, some pencil lead as well shows on palate, medium-weight, lovely balance, long, lingering finish, great older Bordeaux. Purchased at release for a song ($125/case) still have 5 left, this is one of my all-time favorite Pauillacs in the “non-1st, non-super 2d” category, amazing juice!! — 10 months ago
