Les Varennes du Grand Clos Chinon Cabernet Franc 2005

Holding up the best of a trio of sketchy old Loire reds. With air this reveals black currant, mesquite, tobacco, tomato leaf and slightest hint of raspberry. Still excellent but needs food — 3 months ago

Séchet Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2017

Nose: elegant mushroom. Beautiful.

Palate: silky. Lemon flower. Subtly vibrant. Contained richness as this opens. A hint of spice.

Fine and filigreed.

Not super seashelly. Might guess chassagne blind.
