Established in 1861 as the first winery in the Napa Valley by Prussian-born Charles Krug. Today the winery remains under the stewardship of the Peter Mondavi Sr Family, who purchased the historic winery in 1943. A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, dark red with ripe dark berry scents and vanilla spice. On the palate sweet blackberry and cherry flavors with current and cacao notes. Fine tannins on medium+ finish ending with nutty tones.

I hesitated to open this wine so soon! I think this is really Good! Medium body..almost dusty tannins...blueberry..cherry..vanilla..molasses..for the alcohol content 14.7%..nicely balanced. Delicious Napa Cab...showing it's secrets!!

Color of attractive dark purple, looks dense. Nose of anise, sweet oak, tobacco leaves, a bit leathery, and some spice. Not very profound, so I decide to let her breathe. The nose improves marginally after 15 minutes. Taste of powerful tannins, grassy and young, supple acidity, some black cherry, and savory spice like sage. Aftertaste is quite short, with some hotness, a bit leathery, and bittersweetness. Maybe I open this bottle too early or maybe it is over rated.
