2014 vintage. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc. Stephen Carrier opted for very gentle extractions for this vintage, looking for a balance, maybe sacrificing a bit of power to preserve the fruit. It seems to have been a wise decision, this 2014 is ready to go, fully mature, with soft tannins balancing the fruit and spices. Very good length also. A great Fieuzal to drink now. Interestingly, it reminds me somehow of Château Musar. Abv. 13,5%. — a month ago
Alive and kicking! And beautiful at that. The balance you want and come to expect in a top notch Sauternes between sugar, alcohol, fruits.

+1 hour decant(decent chunky/fine sediment). A splendid medium dark ruby red color with bricking. On the nose: Tantalizing perfumed notes of stewed plum/cherry, worn leather, smoke, forest floor, stewed meat, cedar, eucalyptus. Taste: creamy, elegant, with power and depth wine...plum, currants, smokey earth, graphite, saline, dusty crushed gravel, tobacco leaf, and a nice medium plus finish. YUM!! — a month ago

Birth year wine.
"Looks like a tricky one"... if I had a dollar for every time I heard that.
This is Chateau Latour Martillac, Graves, 1975.
This wine is slightly over the hill, but has survived 50 years. Just like me.
I'm assuming this is Cabernet, Merlot, and maybe something else. Fine, pale brick color. The nose is lively and generous with fruit, though there is a bit of grandma's basement.
The palette is driven by tertiary flavors. Mushroom, truffle, wet leaves, and pencil tend to drown out a bit of dark cherry. A little astringent. Maybe some Petit Verdot.
I wouldn't kick this out of bed for eating crackers, but I would prefer it with some lamb.
Hope you all are having an awesome Sunday!

Medium light lemon gold , quite young looking . Aromatic apricot , white flowers , saffron , honey and citrus peel . On the palate quite rich with barley sugar , saffron , lemon peel , apricot , decent acidity , and ok length with apricot and honied lemon peel finish . Not overly complex but well balanced , with ok acidity , drinking perfectly now . Now and over the next 10 years — a month ago
Blend of 65% Sauvignon Blanc & 35% Semillon, pale lemon-green color with pronounce aromas of tropical and stone fruits with herb notes, 25% new oak. On the palate flavors of melon, apple and grapefruit with peppers and a touch of herbs. Medium+ length, balanced lively acidity, ending with a fruit and mineral character. Very good to drink now, will benefit from bottle aging. — a month ago

Prachtige Sauternes. — 2 months ago
Medium ruby garnet , quite thin garnet rim . Quite open and inviting tobacco , red plum , cassis , earthy hints . On the palate this has good balance and a mineral , herbal hints, along with the mix of red and dark fruits . This has good fresh acidity and grippy but polished tannin . Good length and is showing quite well . Better in 5 or so years and will last well a further 10 . At Vinous Icons NY , Pier 60 , Feb 2025 — 3 months ago

2021 vintage. The C is totally different from the grand vin, from a parcel in Marcillac. I would probably not have guessed Bordeaux in a blind tasting. Very unique style, Bordeaux for Burgundy lovers maybe. 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot. — 12 days ago
