Château Grand Pontet

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1989

Opened and decanted hours prior to dinner; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 1989 appears a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of tart, ripe, and dried fruits: cassis, blackberries, black cherry, black plum, tobacco, Poblano pepper, mixed dried flowers, some cocoa, pencil shavings, dried green herbs, a touch of leather, some organic and gravelly earth and fine warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin (integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Fabulous stuff with plenty of fuel left in the tank. Drink now through 2039. — 5 days ago

Lush and open. Expansive fruit with corn, honey and slate. Salinity and tang. Complex and long. Great — 7 days ago

spectacular nose. Opening up but tightly wound at first. Lime, acacia, honeysuckle, oyster shells, a soft plasticine rounding it out. Gorgeous and refined and improving in the glass enormously. — 7 days ago

Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2010

When I taste a wine like this my first reaction is why am I not drinking more Chablis. Opened and the race was on. The quintessential grand cru Chablis. Never stopped putting on weight and complexity . Plenty of life ahead — 15 days ago

Bonneau du Martray

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2011

Pop and pour. A majestic pale straw color. On the nose: Intense nose of green apple, lemon curd, pear, floral, orange rind. Taste: oily, fresh wine with white peach, apple, lemon, saline, crushed rock, grapefruit. YUM! More time to go, glad to have a few more bottles. — 12 days ago

Lovely after 2 hours open. Balanced black fruit, tannins under control. Clearly has a long way to go but it’s drinking well. My first #secondgrowth — 19 days ago
