Stunning ! Great deep dark color.
Smell fresh black fruit. Taste Blackberry, crush raspberry, sweet tannins, very long final with meat notes. A very elegant wine, ready to drink.

Who drew that label to celebrate 350 year anniversary? 🤪 hope the wine is better!

2 hour decant (chunky and fine sediment). A sensational dark magenta color. Checking in on the hyped 09 vintage. On the nose: great nose of perfumed red plum, cassis, blueberry, floral, gravel, cedar, and vanilla. Taste: a smooth, juicy medium plus body wine. Tannins still present....a slight bruiser at the start of its development wanting another 4 years or more for the next bottle.....notes of plum, chocolate, spicy oak, tar, and a licorice medium plus finish. Hopefully a better score with more time.

2hour decant. Color- a dark magenta burgundy red—2009 a very hyped year for Bordeaux! Still young but wanted to try midway. A nice aromatic nose — plumb-blueberry fruit and cassis, with perfumed vanilla spice and eucalyptus with lingering notes of cedar, slight barn yard funk, gravel, earthy dust and slight pepper. Taste— tannins are still young, but young and smooth. Well structured. Plumb fruits and spice definitely come out layered with cocoa, and a licorice spice-tar finish long finish. Definitely room for more characteristics of the flavors to show up as it ages. Give it more time and expected to age even better over the next 5 years.

Opened too early was in a funky place. Something too revisit imo..

I have nothing to add to Vinous’s review besides service. I found this a bit closed initially — a long life ahead — and quite open after a 2 hour decant. By hour 3 it started heading for the worse.

What a nice starter to an Epic tasting! Silky smooth and floral, your typical Margaux!
