Intense fruit aromas: apricot, peach, pineapple, melon, flowers, honeysuckle, almond. Smooth texture, almost milky. A lot of breadth in the mouth. Medium acidity. Powerful, greasy and bitter finish. Superb with a risotto with scallop nuts.

A bit simple and jammy, the 2015 Saint Joseph Babylone features aromas and flavors of cherry preserves. It's medium to full-bodied, with some slightly green, stemmy notes on the silky finish. RP89, 2015
Bright, vivid blackberry fruit with lots of concentration yet quite light body. Slight bitterness to finish. (RH) JR16.5, 2017 — 3 years ago

Funny how sometimes I’m guilty of thinking “ letting the Brett blow off” to taste the main event. Here the development in the glass is the main event, which includes quite a bit of funk when first opening up. That the evolution includes wild blackberries & cassis, & the funk adds to the overall impression of something feral getting tamed, is all part of the fun. Fine grained & can be drunk young, but curious how it would fare in 8-10 years ( imagine a much more smoothed out development & sweetness). — a month ago
