Funk, smoke, blue cheese, and, shockingly, apples (both sweet and tart.) Outstanding cider. — 7 months ago
2023/6. Lovely aromas and a good mix of creamy fruit and spice. The acidity was quite prominent though (and this from someone who loves acidity)… — 10 months ago
Amazing that this is 9.5% because it's so easy to drink a 750mL bottle. It really is wine quality. I have a hard time identifying the nose on beers but it reminds me of being inside the cow feed silo as a kid. It smells like late summer harvest left to ferment.
It's a very clean taste of...... Wheat grass? — 10 months ago
At Rijs Amsterdam recommended for fourth course of white asparagus. Beautiful! A more complex Rose that gets under your skin without you noticing until you think hey what’s that? Do soft in texture but shows complexity and it lingers. Paired perfectly. Yum! A surprise and a great discovery. — a year ago
BFM = Brasserie Franches Montagne. This is the Flanders Red Ale. A sour ale.
Possibly the best beer I have ever had?
The nose is dried red apple + dried guava +
Tart fruit on the tongue with a finish of sweet malt and tart cherry juice.
A wonderful acid finish that to me is reminiscent of what you might find in a — 7 months ago

Happy belated Zwanze Day! Celebrating with this 2017 bottling of Cantillon’s Classic Gueuze. Over the years, I have drifted to be a little more fond of 3 Fonteinen but I’m really splitting hairs. This is world class.
Popped and poured; crushed in 30min after doing the first yard work of 2024 and getting the hops trained to the trellis. The gueuze pours a brilliant golden color with a persistent head. On the nose, mostly tasty stone fruits: apricots, peach, kumquat, horse blanket, stony minerals. On the palate, the gueuze is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and refreshing. Drink now. — 5 days ago
