Bel Olivier

Bel' Villa Syrah 2020

Inky in color with short purple rim.

Strong nose of black currants, plums, oak, tar, licorice, spices, charcoal and light blood notes.

Full-bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, dark chocolates, oak, spices, licorice, tobacco and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Syrah from Red Mountain in Washington State. Rich and extracted, yet not in your face kind of wine.

This Single Vineyard Syrah is well balanced with nice complexity. Fruit forward and spicy.

I had the 2022 not too long ago, and it definitely gets better with age. Will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine. A New world Syrah on the nose and palate.

100% Syrah grapes were aged for 18 months in 50% new oak barrels. 80% french and 20% American oak barrels. A small production of only 3,000 bottles. Unfiltered.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Thought all gone. Interesting take of Grenache and Syrah from Ventoux with a solid medium bodied still robust palate. Unfortunately it kinda overpowered the mixed menu of various eats. — 2 months ago

Les Petits Pieds d'Armand Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2023

Reddish in color with fresh red fruits on the nose.

Medium in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward.

Showing red fruits with earth, light wood, spices, coffee and dark chocolates.

This is a very tasty Grenache from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Complex and interesting to enjoy as a sipping wine.

Very approachable young, soft and elegant. Needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food.

100% Grenache grapes from 115 year old vines. Aged for 2 years in used French oak barrels. A small production of only 4,000 bottles.

16% alcohol by volume.

Les Sétilles Bourgogne Chardonnay 2020

Olivier’s craft is impeccable, even in Bourgogne.

Slightly sour Meyer lemons, lime zest, ripe pineapple flesh, green melons, cream, caramel & butterscotch notes, sea spray, oysters, volcanic minerals, shade of mushroom, sea fossils, some ginger, yellow flowers/lilies with greens, round vicious acidity, good balance, well knitted & elegant finish that lasts 90 seconds and long sets on minerals & spice.

This is drinking so well. Nose of cassis, redcurrant, classic Margaux flowers, green peppercorn (Carmenere), crazy florals, just a masterful nose. Leather and glorious spice. Palate is wide and sleek, elegant and decadent than sharply concentrated and sweet. The tannins are sweet and aggressive but the fruit is extraordinary and in a few hours I see this being even more supple. Fantastic. — 19 days ago
