Grand Cru Delos Brut Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay

Balanced, round, rich and creamy with a nice underlying cut of minerality. This is broad and inviting. More complexity from process than site. Tasty, fun, pleasant. — 7 months ago

Cordeloux Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2017

After a rough stretch of vintages (14,15,16) for this producer, 2017 has it returned to form showcasing the unique Burgundian style to Côte-Rôtie that had it gain such a following early on. It wafts its stemmy spice aromatics with beef jerky, violets and and black pepper. It shows weightless intensity on the palate with a spine of minerality giving it lift and focus. Cordeloux is a tremendous success in 2017. — 9 months ago

Cuvée de Réserve Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Crisp, citrusy and with great acidity and freshness. This is one of the best and finest blanc de blancs from an independent grower we know: Rodolphe Peters does truly great champagne. — 8 months ago

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 1998

Fascinating, after my recent run of so-so to DNPIM (do not put in mouth) CdPs from 25 or so years of age, here’s a “basic cuvée” of CdP (think $18-20 bottle on release) that is punching far above its weight, red fruits, very fine CdP that is drinking great now, long, lingering finish, and shows promise for another 3-5 years of aging!! — 5 months ago

Pierre Gonon

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2023

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2023 pours a ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with an explosion of smoked blackberry pie, purple flowers, bacon fat, olive, black pepper, and subtle warm spices. On the palate the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose however, the wine finishes much more elegant than the nose would suggest. The bouquet might lead one to think this is possibly over the top. However, on the palate, it was far more elegant. Another vintage, another stunning Gonon. Drink now through 2043. — 6 months ago

Consistency is their middle name.

This has just started to shift from fresh to aging.

Bruised red apple/pear, lemon, lime zest, tropical melons, drier stone fruits, whipped cream, ginger, brioche, graham cracker, very light caramel/butterscotch notes, grey volcanics, limestone marl, sea fossils, gritty chalk, white & yellow flowers with greens, excellent lively acidity and a well balanced-knitted, elegant & smartly polished finish that lasts near two-minutes.

Cuvée De Mon Aïeul Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2000

Used the Durand on the cork - soaked to the edge. Decanted for 2 hours.

This wine had some gaminess. Smooth. Fruit was a bit wild and overpowered by the savory flavors.

Paired well with the chicken skewers and onions. Needed complex flavors in the food to pair well.

Good but quite a bit below the Beaucastel
