'S' Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil Brut Chardonnay 1997

Medium lemon gold , still some perlage. This is quite evolved on the nose , with candied peel, brioche , roasted nuts , brine and touch of porcini . On the palate this has good intensity , with high acidity . Creamy lemon peel , toasted nuts , brioche, and a mineral backbone . Quite persistent, lemon pith and chalky finish . At peak now and will continue over the next few years , though this won’t improve — 10 months ago

Lovely nose of fresh see breeze, shell fish and blossom. Palate of intense lemon, crème fraiche, hay and again oysters. Very mineral driven finish. Wine improves with air and slightly higher temps. — 3 years ago

No formal notes. Love 2020. So classic and mineral. Huge wet earth nose that developed into a mineral nose with crystalline purity. Palate is round and electric at the same time. Some fruit but more mineral driven — 4 years ago

Still kicking! Tannins resolved, so silky and soft. Red and dark fruit, baking spice, leather, pine needles, mineral goodness. This is in a great spot. — 7 years ago

Cuvée Frédéric Emile Alsace Riesling

Great pickup by @Steven Perlman during Alsace visit. All about ripping acidity and bone dry mineral and petrol notes with the citrus and orchard fruit now taking on a supporting role with some floral stuff in the mix. Impressive now and should gain complexity — 7 years ago

1996, This 1996 blend of 61% CS and 39% merlot, showed beautifully and justifying the 19 years of cellaring.
A truly deep rich and elegant wine. Lavish red appealing color, lovely nose, leather, black cherries, black current, wet soil, mineral, medium to full body, with soft round tannins, smooth, deep, complex, lovely acidity to balance, and a delicious finish, with hint of sweetness. A truly lovely wine. My score 91, drink to 2019.

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Medium ruby garnet terracotta rim, slightly wider than the Lynch. This is cooler and slightly sterner in character than the Lynch. More mineral , with ash , cedar and grafite in character , cassis , blackberry , dark cherry fruits. On the palate this is denser with more tannin , and balanced acidity . Grafite , cassis , herbal cedar , menthol touch . Long fresh but densely fruited, grafite finish . This is younger and more serious than the Lynch, more austere . Probably deserves a little time in decanter, though this is probably in the middle of its drinking window . Certainly no rush here , can go on well for the next 10 if not more years . This shows a really good mix of St Estephe austerity , seriousness and the ripeness and generosity of 1990. A great bottle , showing very well. — 10 months ago

Mölsheim Riesling 2020

Meyer lemons, very light yellow peaches, apples, .
Intensely mineral on the palate.
Lots of yellow flowers, soft. Expansive.
Nice companion to a red curry rice bowl.
Delicious stuff. Definitely bigger and richer palate as it airs/warms.

Domaine Henri Boillot

Magnificent and gorgeous nose, elegant and classy, layers of white fruit, stony and mineral, the palate is rich, full, intense, yet so classy and balanced, very long finish, great now and with a bright future ahead of it.

Pierre Péters

Cuvée de Réserve Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Had this over a year ago, this is a new batch, a Fav! Rodolphe Péters took over the reins of this venerable estate in the southern Côte des Blancs in 2008, becoming the fourth generation to lead since the estate was founded in 1919, under the name Camille Péters. 100% Chardonnay, Crisp, fine mousse with steady flow of bubbles. Citrus, and biscuit aromas. Fresh fruit flavors of peach, apples and lemons, smooth and dry. Long mineral finish ending with elegance. Nice! — 7 years ago

Château Montrose

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

Medium deep ruby , medium wide ruby rim. Slightly more generously fruited , compared to the 2011 . Blackcurrant , cassis, touches of spice , less austere or mineral . Quite round and ripe , rich on the mid palate , but without a lot of tannic structure , balanced acidity. Decent length , with a touch more tobacco and saline quality on the finish. This is drinking well now and will continue to show well over the next 8-10 years or so — 2 years ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1985

Quite deep ruby and , garnet terracotta rim. Quite spicy nose , slightly green touches , mix of red and dark fruit . On the palate fills out quite well , good acidity , slightly gritty tannins still with mineral , tobacco notes on the finish . Ok reasonable length . This comes across a bit greener than I remember it , so not sure how representative this bottle is , fine to drink now and over the next 10 years . 91

Second bottle medium deep ruby with garnet rim . Took a bit of time to open up , but very good definition , red and dark fruits, truffle , undergrowth, cigar box and grafite. On the palate quite charming sweet red fruits, red plum, cassis , dried spices, undergrowth , elegant for las cases , grafite and tobacco stained finish . Well balanced acidity and quite gritty but ripe tannin . This is lovely now with time in the decanter and over the next 10 -15 years . Completely different from first bottle .

Superb nose. So so expressive. Iced lemon sherbert, limestone, airiness, iodine. Very perfumed. Palate is elegant with huge acids and such delicacy. Very mineral. Some stone fruits but much more about minerals than anything. Complex and very concentrated with dazzling purity and freshness. This is showing out of its mind. — 6 years ago

A classically done wine by a classic producer. This Morgon expression is more on the garden earth/mineral/floral spectrum than the fruit spectrum, which is fine by me. Dense and structured, was singing after an hour in the decanter. — 10 years ago
