Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Nice nose of black currants, blackberries, black plums, cedar, licorice, chocolates, vanilla, earth, light vinaigrette, tobacco leaf, herbs, eucalyptus and peppercorn.
Full bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, espresso, tobacco leaf, earth, herbs, eucalyptus, spices, peppercorn and mildew.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Showing great complexity with a soft mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime.
This 13 year old will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.
Nicely balanced, rich and extracted. Elegant and fruit forward.
Wine Spectator 92 points.
A good quality wine that will pair nicely with BBQ Meats.
A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot and 1% Malbec.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

the Rieslings weren't top class, the rest not specially made for me. — 5 years ago

After an initial smell and taste, I felt the wine was a bit shy and some air would do some good. Additionally, there appeared to be quite a bit of sediment so I poured into a Riedel Amadeo decanter about an hour before service. The 2009 Reserva pours a deep ruby with a near opaque core with some slight rim variation; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of dark dried cherries, sage, dried/cracked leather, dill, tobacco, anise, a touch of furniture varnish and some baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose with some added mint on the very long finish. This is a very lovely, traditional leaning Reserva that’s just beginning to show secondary characteristics. Drinking well now and should continue to do so well past 2029. — 10 months ago
2009 Allemand Horizontal. I absolutely love Allemand’s wines. Always a seamless combination of both elegance and power. Both the Chaillot and Reynard showed perfectly, with the Reynard a bit more concentrated and deep than the Chaillot. Both wines had superb intensity, focus and a wonderful texture with the signature liquid rock, violets, herbs and cassis of Allemand Cornas. Fantastic duo. — 4 years ago

Sitting on the precipice of primary and tertiary. Still has bright fruit notes with high acidity and just enough tannins that it would still pair well with food. But it also has forest floor, mossy stone, leather, cigar box. It will probably age longer knowing Mussar, but this wine has definitely hit its stride and is absolutely singing right now. — a year ago
