Gentle strawberry and light lime stone. Delicate and pretty. A touch in distinct on the midpalate. Young, so may be early to judge — 2 days ago

Millésime Rosé Brut Champagne 2009

It has been awhile since I’ve had their Rosé and it is exceeding expectations.

Beautiful mousse, lively acidity but delicate. Lots of co2. Strawberries, white Rainer cherries, blood orange led citrus blend, raspberry hues, frothy whipped cream, some light caramel notes, really nice mid white spice-just right, volcanic minerals, sea spray, chalky powder with some small bits, brioche to baguette crust, red & pink roses, excellent acidity, very well balanced, perfect tone-tension, smartly polished elegant finish that lasts nearly two-minutes and lands on balanced fruit & spice.

It makes a push for 95 but not quite there. Plenty of life ahead. 15-20 years plus.

Dom Ruinart Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Chardonnay 2013

Medium straw yellow , continuous fine bubbles . Quite toasty notes , with brioche , lemon confit and crushed rocks . On the palate quite a lot of brioche , lemon confit and mineral hints . Quite good length and intensity , good fresh chalky acidity . Still pretty young and probably holding back quite a bit today . Better in a 5 years or so and will last well a further 10 or so . — a year ago

2000 and 2000 P2 side by side. Ones cork aged post disgorgement, the P2 aged on the lees and was disgorged like 3-4 years ago i think — 12 days ago

Du Cropio (Giuseppe Ippolito)

Dom Giuvà Du Cropio Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore Gaglioppo 2013

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2013 pours a deep garnet with an opaque core and a rusty brown rim; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and significant sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with desiccated dark fruit, salmiakki, leather, espresso, and a Maillard reaction thing. On the palate, the wine is dry it’s high tannin and medium acid at best…probably medium-. The finish is medium. Drink now. — 7 months ago

Certainly a very good vintage. Just never overly embraced Dom. But this is nice, beautiful in fact.

The entry is soft & even subtle. Lemon pulp, lime pulp w/ some zest, orange citrus blend, just ripe pineapple flesh, mango, green tropical melon, under ripe cantaloupe, whipped cream, soft/light white spice, sea spray, excellent, crumbled to powdery, dry chalkiness, lightly yeasty, bread dough to baguette crust, grey volcanics, limestone, hints of fresh & dry herbs, yellow lilies, spring flower & jasmine, excellent, soft acidity with a well balanced, gentle structure & tensioned, superbly elegant & smartly polished finish that lasts 90 seconds and land on fruit and gentle volcanics.

I’m fortunate to have found rare deals at charity events and I have 2000, 2002,2004 and now 2006. And the latter 2006 is the hands down winner of the lot. Crispy fresh, lemon zest with hint of brioche. It is a wow! — 7 months ago
