Quarantadue 45 Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Way too young - even with a 4 hour decant. But you can see this will be great. Actually with more air comes into balance. Really delicious and a perfect pairing with a Christmas strip roast. — 4 months ago

Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (91.3%) and Merlot (8.7%). A bit tight and unexpressive right out of the bottle. After a 45 minute decant, this wine was awake and very alive. Dark ruby color. Aromas of graphite, forest floor, wet gravel and dark black fruit. Flavors of black currant/cherry/berry/plum, tobacco, baking spices, dark chocolate and minerals. Distinct notes of smoky oak and wet earth on the long and lingering finish. Tannins were a bit lighter than expected at first but developed with aeration. Quite savory, rich, full bodied and powerful. Beautiful texture. Exceptional (once it opened up) but not the bottle of near perfection that I had heard so much about. Thanks for sharing, Petey and Happy Birthday, Kase! — a month ago

Grande Sendrée Brut Champagne 2009

#AgedWineTuesday

Light golden in color.

Nose of citrus, limes, green apples, light yeast, minerals, spices, herbs and earth.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity, and small bubbles.

Dry on the palate with ripe lemons, apples, limes, brioche, spices, earth, apricots and light forest floor.

Nice length on the finish with limes and spices.

What a delicious 15 year old Vintage Champagne. Nicely balanced and elegant. Still showing lots of fruits.

Peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime.

A blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay. Unfiltered.

12% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$125.

Dunn Vineyards

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Takes the reins as best ever Dunn Cabernet for me…needed 45 mins out of Magnum, nose all Bordeaux of cedar and cigar box with a touch of cassis. Velvety palate, layers of red cherry and chocolate espresso bean, long, long finish. Find and drink now if you can. — a year ago

Château Phélan Ségur

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. Like many wines from this excellent vintage, starting to close a little bit. Everything is there, but will need a bit of patience to fully shine. — a month ago
