Château La Vieille Cure

Domaine Fourrier

Vieille Vigne Griottes-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2004

Intense and perfumed. Still young. Great purity. … 3 days later (poured back into bottle and vacuum sealed), the nose a lot less pronounced but lovely mouthfeel. Plum and black pepper and wild flowers. A slight bitterness. Very good, but best in day one — 4 days ago

Les Trois Sources Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2014

9.3

Had this a few times, but I was finally able to sit down and analyze it over an evening. Their only cuvée produced in 2014.

Upfront, rollercoaster aromatics initially…rich, then mellowed out with an hour of air. After a few hours of air, a much more ripe CdP profile came out. Great bridge wine from Cali GSMs to bigger CdPs. Deep red in the glass with aromatics of fig, brambly red and black fruits. On the palate, big but not unbalanced. No trace of brett. Soft fig, muddled underripe black cherry, garrigue (smoked herbs); lengthy finish. Kiss of black pepper. Big Grenache vibe here. Lovely with air. Probably best in the near term based on the fruit forward structure.

Vieille France Champagne Blend

I’ll be the first to admit, champagne does not excite me on its own. This is rare exception. Delightful, dry, and drinkable. — 16 days ago

Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

I had this in the past and couldn’t remember much about it. Now on NYE, it’s what we paired with our chicken dinner and it is delicious. First taste feels flat but then you feel it bounce on your tongue with hints of pepper — 2 months ago

Vieille Vigne Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Very pretty ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Medium-bodied with medium acidity. Dry on the palate and complex.

Showing red currants, cherries, earth, light oak, spices, tobacco leaf, dark coffee and black pepper.

Long finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a beautiful Pinot Noir from Burgundy. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Elegant and rich.

This 9 year old from the great 2015 vintage is still young, and needs many years in the bottle to mature properly, but already drinking beautifully.

Would be nice to revisit it in 10 years, and will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.

Very enjoyable and really yummy. A great wine to have all by itself, but good with food too.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses and had it by the pool.

93 points.

$500.

Domaine Fourrier

Combe Aux Moines Vieille Vigne Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2011

A fantastic ‘11! No doubt in a leaner style but there’s clear Fourrier signature and it’s so fresh, with absolutely zero greenness, just beautiful floral perfume and bright red cherry fruit that waft from the glass. The palate gains notably in weight and intensity and its pure, focused and saline-mineral inflicted finishes keeps on lingering. Great showing for a vintage I generally avoid in reds. — 3 months ago
