Drinking a 3L from 2013 in late ‘24. Love the big format bottles and aging potential. This could go a lot longer I think but is also fine to drink now.
Standard Caymus flavors and aromas that made the brand known. Dark inky crimson color. Blueberries and blackberry fruit mixed with vanilla alongside the tell-tale signs of wet band-aid. Great tannins, medium-to-big acidity, good long finish. Really nice. — 4 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2008 Special Club pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing and somewhat shy but there’s citrus, white peach, brioche and a rather fascinating smell that reminded me of a built-up roof. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose however here, it’s much richer and expansive. The finish is long. Young? Probably. Drink now through 2038. Bright and dry, slightly effervescent at first opening. Notes of melon and stone fruit, but very light. We had it with scallops sauteed in butter and it was lovely. — 4 months ago

Revisiting this disruptive wine as I often do. This time 24 years after it’s initial release, and much has changed since since it’s inception. The wine is still exciting, maybe for the wrong reasons, maybe for the right reasons but exciting nonetheless. It’s still a big and bold beast of a wine, no matter the vintage. — 8 months ago

Again slightly deeper colour . Quite rich and ripe on the nose with brioche , baked apple , lemon peel , touch of honeysuckle. On the palate more baked apple , lemon peel , ginger . Quite rich and decadent almost , but balanced acidity , creamy texture . Buttered pastry and lemon tart . Good ginger tinged finish . This will need more time than the Leon , quite dense and rich . Better in 5-8 years and will last well a further 10 — 6 months ago
Another beautiful champagne from the Launois family. A pale old gold color with nice perlage and intensity. Freshly baked bread and green apple aromas for days. Melons and white peaches with herbs for good measure. There’s an innate sense of lemon zest in the air that’s just magnificent.
Pure Grand Cru Chardonnay from Mesnil-sur-Oger. Four years of aging on lees gives this a resplendent and stately nature. Nice acidity and a superb mouthfeel, especially on the second day. Apples and chalk on the palate alongside vibrant citrus fruits. I struggle to think of a better value in Champagne than this. Stock up. — 8 months ago

Exceptional. Our guests loved this from the first sip. this wine paired beautifully with with the salty latkes and sour cream appetizers we served. It was just as magnificent with roast salmon, and a butternut squash with maple-Serrano glaze. Depth, brightness and all-around delicious. — 3 months ago
