Deep Ruby with an elegant bouquet of ripe berry fruits, pepper spice with earthy tones. On the palate flavors of plum and jammy cherry, tobacco, oak, pepper spice, lively acidity. Fine chewy tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, oak, spice and an earthy character. Nice! — 21 days ago
Euphoria dinner with kenlee Saniya Vikrant Greg Sophia. Honestly could have had a few more years in the bottle. Super vibrant nose, violets leather vanilla herbal. Drinking legends tonight 😂😂 — 11 days ago
Butter and vanilla on the nose, dry with a hint of potential sweetness, light cherry on the palette with light tannins. You can taste the mix of American and French oak, enjoyable. — a month ago
See previous note from March 2022. Very dark Ruby in colour- impenetrable. Blackberry, smoky notes. A rich full bodied dense palate with a tarry note. Dusty. Granular persistent tannins. Again, Thomas Matthew’s drinking window is way too early (to 2025). This wine will cruise to 2030 with ease. When you taste this wine you have a new appreciation of the allure of Tempranillo, in this case old vine Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero. Post Script: The next day - aniseed and a crushed ant note. — 19 days ago
The 2020 Crianza is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from Ribera del Duero and was aged for 16 months, 75% in French oak casks and 25% in American oak. Garnet-red in hue. The nose features strawberry, plum, undergrowth, herbs, cedar and vanilla notes. The dry and ample palate shows mild tannins and a velvety oak texture that leads to a long-lasting finish. Blend of 97% Mencía and 3% white grapes, deep Ruby red color with aromas of ripe black fruits, pepper spice and oak. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry and plum with cinnamon, cacao, cacao and smoky notes. Fine chewy tannins, medium+ finish, lively acidity, nice mouthfeel, ending with vanilla and earthy chaulky mineral tones, a fine Sipping Wine! Organic! — a month ago
The 2020 Crianza is 100% Tempranillo from Pedrosa del Duero in Ribera del Duero. Garnet-red with a purple sheen. The nose presents blackcurrant and sour cherry notes along with wild herbs and hints of blood. Dry and juicy, the well-calibrated tannins are neither overly extractive nor too rigid, establishing an energetic, fluid palate with a gentle, long-lasting, lactic mouthfeel. This is an elegant take on Ribera. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, November 2023)
