Dear Friends warning this wine needs 48 hours to open up! I kept it for that time under Argon!
Still think the 2015 Muschelkalk mights have peaked. I opened 3 bottles. The first was oxidized and the other 2 were good to world class. The cork on all three was quite soft.
The wine has this ethereal character but the twisty black forest herbs are somewhat gone. It is still great to drink - but to shine one needs stupido patience.
Calk, very faint cherry. (Collecting E&M since 2009. And have been at the winery every other year.).
If you have it you must really experiment and play around but also - drink it up! Not a wine for normal or sane people.
#Will check 2015 Bundsandstein and IDA next. — 7 months ago
Baroque and Baden like but with Mosel soul. Dried apricot, juicy and textured. Almost oily but not quite. Really threads that needle perfectly. — 8 months ago
Super juicy. Pinot Grigio. Clean and crisp not our Kombucha type - skin contact! Tannic and quite tart but man is this great stuff. Small pears the ones which used to grow on old forgotten trees. Touch Strawberries. 🍉 Watermelon. It is incredible hard to spit this wine. A class on its own. — 2 years ago
Pretty good — 2 years ago
Always so good. Opulent and incisive. Deep nose. Lots of amplitude. Huge limestone. Herbal. So complex. German Chardonnay is so awesome. What a palate. Huge core of apple and pear fruit and stacked with minerals and a malo sweetness. So long and nimble. Gorgeous wine. Almost 9.5. — 3 years ago
2022. Pretty German Pinot. Bit reductive. But opened nicely and sweet red fruit with a good balance. — 5 months ago
One can’t really make Pinot better than this. The Buntsandstein aka - colored Sand Stone. Is really a benchmark wine. One can debate the the style but not really the quality. 2015 was a stand out vintage. This comes from old vines. The wine is alive and talks. Yes talks to you:… Kirsch, almonds, crushed marble, black forest thyme, hint orange zest, touch oregano, … this goes on and on as more flavors evolve with air. The wine will probably age another 5-10 years.
An experience really! But not for the middle of the road „ let’s have a Pinot drinker“ - they will be disappointed ☹️.
I think this will outlast the 15’ Muschelkalk from E&M which is more delicate. One of the main issues the wine is hard to come by. Sometimes only 3 barrels are made. Next day eucalyptus and dried figs. — 7 months ago

Lights out amazing — a year ago
This is what a lot of natty wines think they are — 2 years ago
Bright garnet color. Aromas of dark cherry, mushroom, tomato skin with a touch of barnyard funk. Pallet is full of ripe red fruit (cherry, cranberry , raspberry & plum) with notes of mushrooms, baking spices and minerals. A bit of smoke on the finish. Silky tannins. Medium bodied and bright. — 3 years ago

Yes it is a Rosé but i stand by my points/rating. Brought from Münchweier in my suitcase to the US. It was a gift. Very hard to find - the winery in Baden/Germany - really - forget - your maps! Right next to the woods of the black forest. Dark for a Rosé and age worthy. Excellent always but especially this vintage. Rhubarb, Strawberries, Quince, Peach (underripe), pomegranate, bitter orange. Tannins from the skins. Who knows were Florian found these old vine Pinot Grapes. Together with Mark Enfields Rosé the best in the world right now and I assume long sold out! — 4 months ago
