Lieux Dits Les Carelles Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

(Disgorged 1/19)- Always my favorite of the Lieux-Dits and without question one of the very best Blanc de Blancs Champagnes on the planet, it’s stunning tonight, rich, powerful and intense with crazy depth to its layers, unfurling in a Burgundy glass to reveal its complex core of rich orchard fruit, roasted nuts, gun smoke, old rum barrels and candied white flowers, all with seamless integration and balance. The palate is generous and detailed, with racy acids, waves of saline laced chalky Le Mesnil minerals and a finish that just keeps going. For me, the BdB benchmark. — 6 months ago

Very fruit forward and sumptuous. You can tell this wine had a method behind the craftsmanship. Delicious with apple/pear juices. Very dry and delicious. — 2 years ago

Millésime Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay Champagne 2008

Nice gold in the glass…medium mousse with deep, ripe red delicious apple and crunchy biscuit notes. Expands as it warms…and takes on gravitas and complexity. Scottish Salmon Pesto, creamy Greek salad, and fresh MI cream corn. I love July weekends just hanging, cooking, sipping champagne. Happy summer, Vinous! — 10 months ago

Touche-Mitaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Chenin Blanc 2017

First time drinking Xavier’s wines and I’m really impressed. Stone fruit, apricot, peach, pineapple, white flowers...and continues to open with air and comes up to temp. Really delicious and reminds me a bit of Sandlands Chenin.

Cerro Sur Napa Valley Red Blend 2016

Nice floral nose. Cherry liquor up front. Some black, blue and red fruit all show as it evolves in glass. Really opens up nicely and smooths out to a delicate mouthfeel. Decant 30 min. Tannins nice and silky and supple. Good full finish. — 5 months ago

Consistently delicious and great value in Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc Champagne.

Fresh, reductive, lively on the palate. Green apple, lemon, lime zest, baguette crust, pineapple, white peach, lanolin, cream, perfect chalk & minerality, yellow & white florals, beautiful acidity and rich polished finish that persists.

Photos of; one of their Grand Cru vineyards, two views of their historical museum of champagne/wine artifacts since it’s beginnings and Launois.
