Showing a bit of age with brick brown around the edge, a bit dusty but still has a core of dark fruit, lovely with our Tuscan grilled ribs. — 2 months ago
Another spot on wine from Morgan, I love the back label story about his grandmother passing along the love of wine in their family. Grenache is so much about how it is grown, and the sourcing for this wine delivers great fruit. The winemaking is restrained which lets the fruit shine thru. What a lock with our Applewood smoked baby back ribs! — 2 months ago
Wow, another stunner from Morgan. The depth and complexity that he develops from this historic block of Monte Rosso is remarkable. Flinty nose and focused acidity really show the terroir of the site, the breadth across the palate as a so satisfying. I picked two Dungeness crab to make fantastic crab cakes just to enjoy with this wine. Amazingly delicious! — 6 months ago
What an elegant wine! Perfectly cellared and ready for the glass, nose showed some earth and smoke, totally silky on the palate, structured and supple at the same time. We savored every drop with our handmade pasta and Tuscan pork sugo. — 2 months ago
Chenin Blanc’s day is coming, and PAX really gets it right. The nose is pretty restrained but on the palate the wine is broad and satisfying. It has a great weight and texture, the finish is clean. Fantastic with our spread of Sonoma County cheeses. — 2 months ago
Quite a stunner! If it was blind, the structure and texture would make me think top flight Bordeaux. These wines drink unlike any other Zinfandel, light oak on the nose, great acidity and elegance galore. Considering their losses in the Tubs Fire, let’s all buy some Storybook and support this fantastic producer! — 2 months ago
Esoteric yes, and delicious, very straightforward with lots of juicy fruit and no oak distraction. We really enjoyed it with our roast chicken. — 4 months ago
What a lovely wine. Dark dense black fruit, soft tannins and plenty of rich oak but still balanced with tart acidity, long finish. A really complete wine. Worth checking out. Very nice with our grass fed NY steaks. — 5 months ago
Wowza! I have loved every bottle of Bedrock I have tasted, but this one is a stunner. Morgan is known for red blends, but my favorites are the whites. I have loved the Rieslings for a couple of years, but now I have a new girlfriend. Wish I could have bought a case.
The nose is typical for the AVA, more tropical than tree fruit, but then on the palate delivers sharply focused acidity, that desirable balance of acid and wood that I find in great Burgundy, some nice spice and butterscotch to round it out and all lemon custard on the finish. Simple and complex at the same time, can’t wait to see what this wine will do with some time under its belt.
Is there anything that this guy can’t make beautifully. Definitely my go to producer these days. Check it out. — 6 months ago
