Château Pavie

Saint-Èmilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Opulence in a glass and, though beautiful, still an infant at 15 years. Big berries and smokiness! — a month ago

Just keeps getting better. Decanted for 2 hours. Deep Ruby with bold flavors of Cherry, spice but still smooth. Lingering fruit with a hint of plum. — 2 months ago

Domaine Henri Gouges

Clos des Porrets St. Georges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1999

1999 vintage. Some frequent guests brought this in and were worried about it having held up. In my experience, this decidedly, old-school producer needs more time than the average bear to come around and show well. Nice fill and great cork. Decanted and tasted after 20 minutes. Throwing a bit of sludgy/powdery sed but very manageable. Slight amount of funk on the nose that blew off within minutes. Wine was a tad flat at the onset but gained strength in the decanter/glass with more oxygen. The fruit, thankyouforasking, was just dandy. Tannins, while still evident, were functioning more like an omniscient narrator. Ridiculous, deep, like just bottled color to this wine. So ridiculous, had to check several times with different lighting/backgrounds to make sure it wasn't my imagination. Beautiful, older premier cru red Burg experience. 9.14.25. — 2 months ago

Château Lassègue

Saint Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend

Minerals... Aged red fruit. Beautiful bouquet. This wine has come together nicely and it paired nicely with the beef tenderloin.

Château Côte de Baleau

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

2022 vintage. Medium/medium-heavy body. Excellent richness and viability of frontal palate fruit along with consistency of experience throughout. Tannins throughout but they don't dominate the conversation like the blowhard at the high school reunion. No dropped coverage or passes. Phenomenal (relatively) cheap chicken BDX at $25.10 a bottle resto cost. Picked up a case but, if I had more storage room, woulda picked up 5 cases. If I ran a retail store, woulda picked up 10 cases and pushed it hard for someone curious about but had never had BDX. 10.8.25. — a month ago

Château Pipeau

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

Deep Ruby red color with aromas of ripe fruits with floral perfume and sweet earthy tones, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum fruits, with pepper spice notes. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, floral and earthy spice character. Good now, has short-term aging potential. — 2 months ago

Château Haut-Segottes

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Raspberry, blackberry, currant, big thick mouthfeel, long finish, tannins for days, but put together…you need something big to eat with this one, and luckily I had just the thing-pigs foot stuffed with sweetbread and foie gras — 3 months ago

Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg

Les Chaignots Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2022

Back at our new favorite seafood restaurant and so very difficult to find the right red wine pairing (we were in the mood for some red….don’t judge us!)
Our new Sommelier BFF (Michael) steered us to this region and he was spot on! Light, fresh, red fruits…delicious 😋

Violets, blackberry, plum, iodine, earth, med + body, med + acidity. Tannins are fine, but still fairly assertive. A bit gamey, a bit rustic, paired very well with squab — 3 months ago
