Quite light ruby , with a wide ruby garnet rim. Quite sweet red fruit at first with some raspberry , strawberry and red cherry notes , dried flowers as well , rose , violet and an earthy note . Quite elegant and precise . On the palate this is again elegant and restrained , very pretty red fruits , juicy but still fresh acidity . Light tannins balanced alcohol . Cherry , raspberry and wild strawberry . Herbal tinged , slightly earthy finish . Drinking very well now and will continue to do so over the next 3-5 years or so — 8 months ago
Astringent and dark on the nose when fresh from bottle. Plum and cherry and pepper on the palate. As it mellows, oak flavors mellow and flavor gets more complicated. A little acid to Leah. — 3 years ago
Wow. One of the most interesting Sangiovese that I have had. Nice under carbonic that brings out notes of rhubarb tart. Great with grilled vegetables in the summer. — 6 years ago
Alban Vineyards, the original Rhône Ranger. Of all the CA producers that try to emulate the Rhône style, I believe, Alban Vineyards emulate it best!
On the nose; ripe fruits of mixed berries, savory meats, pork & bacon fat. Mocha, dusty dry brown top soil, powdery volcanic minerals, dry underbrush, vanilla, cherry/raspberry cola, dark, rich black soil, beautiful spice, fresh red & dark florals.
The body is medium to full, round & ripe. Tannins are nicely soften with plenty of life ahead. Ripe; blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, creamy raspberries, plum, boysenberries & some blue fruits. Savory meats, pork, bacon fat, dry brush, dry crushed rocks, volcanic minerals, cola, some dark moist soil, limestone, some black licorice, touch of spice & black pepper, red & dark florals with violets, great round acidity and a rich, round, well balanced, elegant finish that lasts & lasts.

A great representation of an extremely approachable Syrah from Santa Barbara county. Medium-to-full-bodied, rounded and elegant, all red fruits on the nose concours to the palate from beginning to the very end. Medium tannins, some spices and wet woods are easily noticed. It’s a cork and pour, ready to go Syrah. Delicious! — 5 months ago
Very nice and smooth start to finish. Dark fruits mainly and fully integrated. Last bottle of 2017 — 6 months ago

Licorice and Zinnia on the nose and first taste. Cola and Cranberry, yes I agree! Mulberry and honeysuckle. Very nice sipper. Pink Noir, sure... kinda heavy. Pulled pork extremely a great pair!!! — 8 years ago
Served it with parmesan, kale, and black pepper pasta. Lovely! — 10 years ago
Must love roasted veggies. But this has shed some of its oak and youthful reduction. In a good spot with another 5-10 years of interest. — 7 months ago

Even better than the crazy-good 2007, the 2015 La Sangre de Jonata is sheer perfection in a glass and up with the finest Syrahs ever made in California! Checking in as a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier, aged in barrel, its saturated purple color is followed by out of this world aromatics black raspberries, smoked earth, graphite, game, violets and freshly crushed rock-like minerality. — 4 months ago
