Marchesi Del Salento

Masseria Altemura

Sasseo Salento Primitivo

Very nice Primitivo from the Puglia/Salento region. Dark ruby color. Paires wonderfully with Southern Italian food, but will go well with a variety of foods. Drank November 2025 — 17 days ago

Ser Lapo Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2018

9.0

Concur with WS review with respect to the flavor profile, albeit with a slightly lower score. Complex set of flavors. Potentially age-worthy.

WS:93. Featuring black cherry, blueberry, mint, iron and Tuscan scrub flavors, this solid red is built for aging, with ripe fruit returning on the long finish. All the components are there -- this just needs time. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best from 2024 through 2040. 19,100 cases made, 4,000 cases imported.

Pale straw coloration. On the nose, citrus, herbs, and minerals. On the palate, citrus and minerals. Nice, longer finish of same. Nicely balanced and a fuller Chardonnay mouthfeel. — 4 days ago

Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2018

8.9

2018 Vintage of a legendary large producer. Great balance, a bit too tannic for years aging and perhaps requires decanting, breathing. Having visited the winery a few years ago - beautiful Tuscan facility, would like to say more nice things but the Summary is: nice Brunello. Probably a decent value, but only time will tell — a day ago

Riserva Montesodi Castello di Nipozzano Chianti Rùfina Sangiovese 2012

This ages so well. A balance of mature and fresh: cigars, tomato leaf, eggplant (first time I think I ever said that!), cassis.
Finely structured tannins, the acids have mellowed a little but still very present.
Who knows how long this one could go but it's a great time to drink it now!
