Been a little bit since I checked in on this. Baby Clos des Chenes. Nose is all stones, minerals, light cherry and seems closed aromatically. Palate is lush and rich with lovely balance, purity and freshness but seems closed. Lovely finesse. Serious dense fruit and structure. Black and red cherries. Great length but I'll check back in 2 hours if I'm up. If not tomorrow. — 9 years ago
2009 Very nice bottle of Côte Challonaise with fine balance and mature Pinot Noir with excellent complexity, nice acidity and good length. Kenn and I loved it! — 11 years ago
Earthy and musty with subtle tones of fruit to soften it out; this was a surprise treat for my wife and I over a dinner while on vacation. — 11 years ago

2011 Lucien Lardy Fleurie Les Chenes. 'This the season for cru Beaujolais. — 12 years ago
$50, Moore Brothers, full, fruity and minerally - similar to the Trois Chenes — 13 years ago
Impressions after initial decant were aromas of strawberry and other red fruits which is unusual for an aged Red Burgundy. This fruity note blew off after an hour. Some stalkiness and spiciness on palate. Barb said aromas of root vegetables like turnip. Light to medium weight which I have come to expect from Volnay particularly in an average vintage like 2004. This is the Clos des Chenes. Would love to try from a better year. — 8 years ago

2012 CHENES Saint Louis Fronton. Garagiste purchase. Under $15. A steal. — 11 years ago
Gorgeous! Wow. First Gagnard Clos des Chenes I've had and although AM has it showing as 2018 start time I have to say it's stunning right now. Very precise tannins. Lots of length and the typical Volnay nose. Almost like drinking a cocktail of limestone and fresh bing cherries. Plenty of lively acidity as well. Buy it! — 11 years ago
2008, Domaine Vincent Ricard, Les Trois Chenes, Touraine, Sauvignon Blanc. One of my favorite SB. A little past it's prime but still has lots of primary citrus. Touraine is about a 3 hour drive west of Sancerre. Vincent Ricard has a good lineup of wines. I also like his Gamay/PN blend. — 12 years ago
2009, Domaine Vincent Ricard, Le Bouc Sauvignon Blanc, Touraine. One of my favorite producers. Very good SB, acidic with lots of citrus. Excellent with pan seared Paiche. No oak, unlike his Trois Chenes cuvée. Last of 6 bottles. Great value. — 12 years ago
Smokey, toasted oak on the nose, with a higher acid. Pairs with truffles cheeses or mushroom forward sauces/dishes — 8 years ago
Killed a baby and lived to tell about it. As classic as it gets in Volnay. Great vintage for this wine. Stoney nose with deep red cherries, mint and wonderful underbrush aka sous bois. Gorgeous nose. Palate is juicy, complex and full of fruit but a brooding structure as well. Exceptional balance and freshness. Stunning depth. Maybe at 5% of what it is capable of. Deep and concentrated fruit that is dense as it is young and raw. Amazing potential. Classic Clos du Chenes. — 9 years ago
Very well balanced light tannin Pinot. Perfect for our surprise 4 course menu! — 10 years ago
Volnay 1er Clos de Chenes — 11 years ago
On the nose florals and cherry. On the palate dark fruits, earth, leather, spice and strong alcohol and medium tannins. As it opens up more French oak and vanilla become more prominent and linger on the finish nicely. — 11 years ago
Lafarge Clos des Chenes,果然对得起评家们的盛赞! — 12 years ago
60/40 Merlot-cab. Dense, dark and heavy, but velvet like the curtain on the Devil's theatre. Licorice, tobacco, black and blue berries, with a tart Kool-aid grapey-ness, that sounds cheap, but this is rib-stickingly tannic fruit sand slide stuff, and really just a symptom of drinking this wine young. I am unapologetic, I like precocious young wines. I drank the Kool-aid, and am now a believer. — 13 years ago

Light bodied for a St. Estephe, initially, though it fleshed out a bit the next day. Day 1: decidedly red fruited with red plum, raspberry, autumn leaves, dried herbs, graphite. Day 2: fruit had darkened with blackberry, black plum, currant, tarragon, still graphite, dusty tannins, freshly-turned soil, autumn leaves. — 8 years ago
