Aging well. Still getting blackberry and red currant flavors. Nice amount of oak on the nose. Went very well with prime rib and flank steak. — 6 years ago
Well worth the price. Drinking very well and perfect with prime rib. — 7 years ago
The beautiful dark rich color and full tongued flavor was perfect with Christmas Eve prime rib. — 7 years ago
Way too young. Still pretty tough after a 5-6 he decant. There’s is a lot of structure here and the dark roasted fruit plays well with the other aromas / flavors like charcoal, pencil lead, and soil. Not my go-to style of wine, but decent with prime rib. — 5 years ago
V15. So good . Cocoa and cedar nose. Rich, opulent black currant and plum fruit. Tight, chewy, leather finish. Went well with prime rib. — 6 years ago
This was in magnum and served with prime rib at Christmas Eve dinner. In a word, it was outstanding! Deep, meaty flavors gave way to a long, elegant finish. — 7 years ago
Tons of acidity. Paired amazingly w our pasta and prime rib and rib eye. — 8 years ago
Wine worked well with the prime rib dinner. — 9 years ago
This wine poured a dark blood to brick red. It had flavors of cedar, dried fruit, earth, and may be a little bit of graphite. It was very smooth and balanced. It had quite light tannins but some nice acidity. I do not have a lot of experience with Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but this was a very good example. It was nice to try an old world GSM blend, and compare it to American versions. It was certainly less fruity and more earthy. It went perfectly with the prime rib we cooked for Christmas Eve dinner. Many thanks to good friend Mike P. For this gift. — 4 years ago
Whatever words I would use to describe how amazing the 96 was with our Prime Rib Roast last night would simply fall short & never do it justice.
The evolution that took place in this bottle after 21 years was never conceived by anyone tasting it upon release or young. It has made a epic leap and simply heaven on the palate.
Oh...as a friend of mine was always fond of saying...”The Prime Rib Roast didn’t suck either!”
I wanna do this again real soon. OMG!!!
Still processes me this morning.

Happy New Year! 🎊🎆🎈🍷🍾🥂 — 6 years ago

Jammy plums and tickle tannins . Overextracted. Menthol and stems. Prime rib, please! — 7 years ago
Some oak and just a touch of an herbal aroma, still pretty solid structure, balanced, long finish, should be excellent with the prime rib. Kudos to Jim and Barbara for this lovely old Merlot. — 7 years ago
Sweet, ripe fruit with firm tannins. Beautiful with prime rib on Christmas Eve. — 8 years ago

Pomerol: my favorite Bordeaux Appellation, by far. Solid! With so much life and time left in the bottle… Heck, I could pair this with prime rib eye and and it would cut the fat seamlessly. Yeah, this is outstanding, and will only get better and better, peaking in about four or five more years. Amazing prolonged intense tannic finish. Cheers. — 4 years ago
