Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2021

2021 vintage. Great QPR. Fruit. Tannins. Balance. Current drinkability. Underpriced relative to comparable CDP’s. Checks off a lot of boxes. Grab you some. 4.3.24. — a month ago

Les Côtes Saint-Joseph Syrah 2022

No notes. Beef jerky & dark cherries, on nose & palate. Thinner concentration I had hoped for, but suspect age, air and/ or long decant will bring it together — 3 months ago

What a banger. Elegant nose, smoky. The most notable thing was the tension brought by the tannins. Just perfect. Lip smacking. Great wine for bbq. — 4 months ago

"Les Granits" Saint Joseph Syrah

2020 drinking very well after a short decant - beautiful full body with a very persistent finish. Dark fruits, cassis, smoke and mineral / iron accents - great quality relative to the price — 5 months ago

"Les Oliviers" Saint-Joseph Marsanne-Roussanne Blend 2016

Stunning. Marzipan, smoke, cheese rind, lemon, almond. Very clean and chiseled but with ample roundness on the finish. Should continue to evolve for some time — 6 months ago

Nothing profound or particularly thoughtful here. Just an easy, simple, clean wine that asks very little of you in a great way. — a month ago

Quite reticent in the nose. Dark plum, a bit of spice, some raspberry, a touch of iron. Very pure in the palate. Still quite tight but clearly classy fruit underneath — 3 months ago

Marquis de Laguiche Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2019

Delectable Wine
9.4

The 2019 Montrachet Grand Cru is a little oakier and creamier on the nose than its peers, yet with enormous depth of fruit that crashes over the olfactory senses. But perhaps it needs more delineation? It seems slightly later-picked than its peers, giving off light caramel notes. The palate is medium-bodied and hewn from a richer style of this Grand Cru. Slightly viscous in texture, dense and powerful, it doesn't quite possess the killer clarity and/or mineralité on the finish as the best in the flight. Impressive nonetheless, this is a Montrachet with real heft. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, December 2023)

Mercurey Pinot Noir 2020

Deep red color. Bright aromas and flavors of red berry/cassis fruit, wet soil, dark chocolate and baking spices. A pronounced vanilla note on the mid-palate. Well balanced but a bit short on the finish. Very smooth tannins. Young and fruit forward. Could benefit from additional bottle age. Thank you for sharing this one, Chris B! — 6 months ago

Hell yes. Love this producer. If you can score a bottle of the 2019 or 2020 St. Joseph "Vieilles Vignes," you won't be disappointed. Up's the ante.
